Roy Lawlor Signs
Treaty United are delighted to announce the signing of Roy Lawlor.
The 18-year-old winger joins Treaty United from UCD, where he recently featured for the first team and played a key role in the club’s UEFA Youth League campaign in late 2024, recording two goals and an assist in four games.
A former schoolboy at Emo Celtic in Laois, Roy spent his first two seasons of EA Sports LOI Academy football with Bray Wanderers and Athlone Town before joining UCD ahead of the 2023 season.
After a season at MU17 level, Roy was quickly promoted to the Student’s MU20 side at just 17 years old and had an impressive season, scoring ten goals and providing four assists in 30 appearances. Roy’s goal contributions helped the team finish second in Tier One, just two points behind champions Drogheda United, and win the Enda McGuill Cup. Additionally, they progressed through a round of the UEFA Youth League, with Roy scoring against Stjarnan FC and FC 2 Korriku.
Roy’s performances at underage level were rewarded as he made his senior debut for UCD against Treaty United late last season, and he is now all set for his first full season of senior football under Tommy Barrett.
Roy spoke to TreatyUnitedFC.com and had high praise for his experience with the club so
far:
“I’m delighted to be signing for Treaty United. The training so far has been top class, and the
boys have been very welcoming so hopefully we can push on and do well this year.”
Tommy Barrett spoke to TreatyUnitedFC.com and was delighted to have another young
promising talent signed up for the new season:
“Roy is technically a very good player, like all players that have come out of UCD, and has been in-and-around the Irish U19 squad of late. We think he’s another player for the future that will become a very good footballer. He can play in an attacking midfield role or out wide and finds space very well, so we think he’ll be a good addition to our squad for the new season.”
