Monday Night Football Comes to the Markets Field

Monday Night Football comes to the Markets Field for the first time this season on this coming Monday, June 23rd as Tommy Barrett’s side host fellow play-off hopefuls, Wexford FC, in a crucial SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division game. Treaty will be hoping to continue their fine vein of home form which has seen them win their last 4 home games, ratcheting up 12 goals in the process while conceding just 2. In fact,  we have to go all the way back to March 14th for the last time that Treaty tasted defeat at the Garryowen venue. That was a 1-0 defeat to next Monday’s visitors in what was a smash-and-grab effort by the Slaneysiders with a 93rd minute winner by Mikie Rowe after Treaty had dominated most of the game.

There were 1436 patrons at that game and Tommy Barrett will be looking for the Mid-West public to get behind his side as they look to consolidate a play-off spot. There are just 9 home games left in the season as all the other sides in the division visit the Markets Field before final league positions get decided. Tommy Barrett’s side sit in 4th place in the league with Wexford FC one of the sides challenging for those coveted play-off positions.

So, get on down to the Markets Field this coming Monday night for one of only two Monday Night Football occasions at the venue this season.  The last few home games have provided plenty of goals, thrills and some excellent football from the home side.  We’re confident that that will continue this coming Monday. The support on match-nights has been vocal and loud so let’s play your part in making the Markets Field a fortress between now and the end of the season.
