Treaty United
Without a goal in three games, Treaty United are in desperate need of rediscovering their attacking threat.
A creditable 0-0 against league leaders Cork City was followed by a low key performance and a 0-1 defeat to Finn Harps just a week later. This ended the Limerick side’s 100% start to the season.
The following match saw Treaty travel to Athlone. However, they fell to another 0-1 defeat with a first-half Aaron Connolly goal earning the midlanders the points.
Despite the recent run of poor form, Treaty are in a much stronger position than at the same stage last season.
Midfielder Lee Devitt returns from suspension on Friday night following a debatable sending off against Cork City.
Goalkeeper Corey Chambers is a doubt after missing Monday night’s trip to Athlone due to a hamstring issue.
Colin Conroy, Darren Nwankwo and Callum McNamara remain on the sidelines.
Wexford
Buoyed by earning a draw against Cork City on Monday and with a chance to go level on points and possibly leapfrog Treaty on goal difference, Wexford will be dangerous opponents.
Manager James Keddy was full of praise for his part-time players’ efforts against full-time Cork City.
Treaty will need to keep an eye on Aaron Dobbs. The forward has 32 goals in 99 appearances for Wexford. He has already bagged two goals this season.
Past Meetings
Treaty didn’t manage a win against Wexford in four fixtures last season.
The final of those games saw Treaty 1-0 up through a Ben O’Riordan goal but a sending off for Lee Devitt saw the match turn on its head. Danny Furlong equalised and Kian Corbally grabbed the winner in the 79th minute.
Treaty’s most notable win over Wexford was a 5-1 victory on a very windy February night in 2022. Goals from Callum McNamara, Joel Coustrain, Joe Gorman and Enda Curran with a double gave Treaty the win.
