The Teams
Treaty United
Sitting in eighth place on 40 points, Treaty United come into this Friday after a 1-1 draw with
champions Cork City. That result against Cork City marked their fourth consecutive draw with the
Leesiders and extended Treaty’s current unbeaten run in the league to three games.
While the playoffs are gone for Tommy Barrett’s side, there is an opportunity for them to finish in
seventh, if not sixth, place if they can do their business and other results go in their favour.
Tommy Barrett has rotated his squad a great deal in recent weeks on account of a length injury list
and may have to rotate even further on Friday. Lee J Lynch departed the field of play shortly after
finding the Turner’s Cross net last Friday, and it is unlikely that he will feature in the final two games.
Corey Chambers was replaced late on also and it remains to be seen if he will return to the starting
line-up on Friday or if teenager Michael Dike will start between the posts. Tommy Barrett will be
hoping that Alec Byrne and Mark Byrne are fit to return for Friday’s final home game too.
UCD
Sitting in second place on 54 points, a point in their final two games will secure the playoffs for UCD
but that is only if Harps are to win all of their final three games. The students have won just once in
their last six games but might have taken more than a point last week but for Hugh Parker’s penalty
being saved.
One man who won’t be lining out for UCD on Friday is influential midfielder Ronan Finn who will be
serving the second of his three match suspension. The captain’s involvement this season has been
hampered by injuries but when he is fit and able he is one to watch. In terms of goals, UCD will look to the likes of Mikey Raggett to find the net and secure a second win of the season at the Markets
Field.
Previous Encounters
This marks the tenth encounter between the sides. The previous three meetings from this season
have seen wins for each side and a draw in their most recent encounter. The most memorable
encounter between the sides saw Treaty advance to the semi-final of the 2022 FAI Cup at UCD’s
expense thanks to an Enda Curran hat-trick.
