The Teams

Treaty United

Sitting in seventh place on 39 points, Treaty United picked up a second win in a row last week when they overcame Longford Town on a 3-1 scoreline at the Markets Field. Treaty took the lead through a Lee Devitt chip but Longford struck on the stroke of half-time to level to scores. A first Senior goal for Adam O’Halloran put Treaty back in the lead before David Tarmey scored late on to seal the win.

Treaty have been in good form of late and even put in a good performance in their last losing effort against Athlone Town. Tommy Barrett will be looking to keep that good form going on Friday as they look to end the season on a high, while comments from Barrett after that victory over Longford suggest that his side will be bringing an attacking mindset to Turner’s Cross.

Alec Byrne departed the field of play early last Friday and will be a concern ahead of Friday’s trip.

Cork City FC

First Division champions Cork City come into Friday’s game off the back of a 3-3 draw away to Bray Wanderers. That trip to the Carlisle Grounds was their third outing since being crowned First Division champions and all three games have been filled with goals with the net being rippled 15 times between City and their opponents. Manager Tim Clancy has made several changes in those last three games which is likely to have played a factor in the open nature of those games.

Two men to look out for on Friday are Sean Maguire and Ruairi Keating who returned to Leeside amid much fanfare in the summer window. Both men have since delivered for The Rebel Army with Maguire grabbing six goals in his last four games while Keating has scored four goals and assisted twice in seven appearances;

Previous Encounters

This fixture has been kinder to Treaty than many would have expected when they joined the First Division in 2021, grabbing a result in seven of their twelve meetings with Cork City and being unbeaten in their last three. Those previous three meetings between the sides have ended in draws with Treaty suffering a very late equaliser when the sides most recently met at the Markets Field. Treaty have only lost once in four meetings at Turner’s Cross and have picked up famous victories at the venue in the summers of 2021 and 2022.

Treaty United Wins – 3

Draws – 4

Cork City Wins – 5
