Home team news

Sean Guerins is a doubt along with Enda Curran and Darren Nwankwo. Jordon Tallon is still out.

Treaty United

Unbeaten in four games now, Treaty United will take a great degree of confidence into this game having closed the gap to Athlone Town in fifth, the final play-off spot, to just two points with two games to go.

Results went Treaty’s way last Friday night as the Limerick side did their job professionally with a dominant 2-0 over Finn Harps with a penalty from captain Marc Ludden and a fine near post header from Dean George sealing a comfortable three points – while Athlone fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Bray Wanderers.

Treaty’s win followed a brilliant 3-2 away victory at Longford Town just a week after play-off rivals Athlone were beaten 4-1 at the Markets Field.

Supporters will have one eye on the midlander’s fixture away to Finn Harps on Saturday which kicks off half an hour before the game at the Markets Field.

Galway United

John Caulfield’s team have been imperious all season with 92 goals scored and just 17 conceded in 34 games.

They clinched the league title a number of weeks ago and while they exited the the FAI Cup to Bohemians last weekend at the semi-final stage, their league form has remained consistent.

They will be a very tough side to break down and have goal threats in several areas of their side, particularly David Hurley and Stephen Walsh.

Callum McNamara and Edward McCarthy will be familiar names to Treaty fans having represented the club in recent times.

Past Meetings

In ten meetings, Treaty are yet to register a win against Galway who have held the upper hand with six victories.

However, all those wins had been decided by a single goal until the last two meetings when Galway ran out 3-0 winners on both occasions.

In one of the most memorable meetings, Treaty hearts were broken after a Dean George double put them in a comfortable position with a 2-0 half-time lead in an encounter at the Markets Field in April 2022.

Sadly for the home support, the strength, stamina and squad of Galway showed in the second half when three goals in the last 15 minutes from Ronan Manning, Alex Murphy and Stephen Walsh secured the points for the Tribesmen.
