The Teams

Treaty United

Treaty United sit in eighth position on 28 points, six points off the playoff spots. Treaty were convincing 1-0 winners against Finn Harps last Friday thanks to an Enda Curran penalty, and will only be disappointed that they didn’t score more than once. There were strong performances across the board but Fionn Doherty, Lee Devitt and Lee J Lynch all had a big say in that victory. New signings Jack Kavanagh and Chris Horgan made the squad for the first time and could potentially see minutes on Friday.

Tommy Barrett’s side have gotten some momentum at the Markets Field of late with just one loss in their last six – a 90th minute winner by Jack Larkin which gave Cobh Ramblers all three points, in a game that Treaty deserved more from. Having played out a scoreless draw with City in their first meeting at the Markets Field, Barrett will be hopeful of getting a result against the league leaders who have been good without being electrifying.

Cork City FC

Cork City sit at the top of the table on 58 points, 15 points clear of Athlone Town who have a game less played. City have only lost once all season (away to Athlone Town) and are currently on a run of eight games unbeaten, including a run of seven straight victories in all competitions.

It took two second half goals from Charlie Lyons and Barry Coffey for Cork City to see off Kerry FC last Friday, recording their 17th clean sheet in all competitions in the process. Tim Clancy’s side have been strong defensively this season but have flattered to deceive in front of goal – scoring three or more goals on just six occasions.

Previous Encounters

Cork City lead the way when it comes to meetings between the two sides and haven’t lost, nor conceded, in their last five trips to Limerick with three wins and two scoreless draws.
