Treaty United

Tommy Barrett’s side confounded the critics last Friday night with an excellent performance in a 1-1 draw with league leaders Cork City at Turners Cross.

An early penalty was converted by Cork City’s Evan McLaughlin and it looked like a straightforward win for the home side.

However, Alec Byrne levelled for Treaty on 41 minutes and the Limerick side frustrated their hosts for the rest of the game and could have even snatched the win had Lee Devitt kept a close range shot under the bar in the second half.

It followed a 1-1 in Cobh a week earlier, the first of two decent away results in Cork over seven days.

Treaty now have a platform to build on and these games could be a turning point in a so far difficult 2024.

Longford Town

The midlanders have endured a tough season.

The club parted ways with manager Stephen Henderson after a poor run of results early in the season.

Their first win was only earned in their 13th game against Kerry FC.

They picked up a second against Treaty in early May and have earned draws against Athlone Town and Cobh Ramblers since.

Past Meetings

Treaty had the better of the exchanges last season scoring 11 goals in the four games and winning nine points from 12.

These sides do like a 3-2 scoreline when they meet, it occurred in three of the four encounters between the teams in 2023.

Treaty were disappointed on their last trip to Longford. A Mark Byrne goal had the away side in front but goals from Ross Fay and Dean O’Shea secured a rare win for Longford.Recent results
