The Teams

Treaty United

Sitting in 8th position on seventeen points, Treaty United returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Munster rivals Cork City. First half goals from Caleigh Boeckx and Danielle Steer put Treaty on their way to three points with Katie Lawlee sealing the victory with a goal late on. It marks a third home win of the season for Dominic Foley’s side and a clean sweep over their local rivals which will have confidence high ahead of a difficult run of games.

With this fixture being the second of three games in a week, Dominic Foley may look to rotate his charges to keep fresh legs in the starting line-up. Grace Gleeson made her return to action off the bench on Saturday after almost six weeks out and could return to the starting eleven this week.

Galway United

Sitting in 3rd place on twenty-eight points, Galway United are six points off the top spot but have one less game played than leaders Athlone Town. Recently crowned Avenir Sports All-Island Cup Champions for the second year in a row, Galway are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions with just Shamrock Rovers managing to hold them inside 90 minutes in the aforementioned cup final.

It’s a much needed good run of form for Phil Trill’s side who suffered a bad patch from June to August that saw them lose three of their six games, but that run will be confined to the past now as Galway look to claim a league and cup double.

There is plenty of familiarity between the sides with Jenna Slattery, Amy Madden, Jodie Griffin and Aislinn Meaney all having played for Treaty United before, all but Meaney began their national league underage careers with Treaty also.

Previous Encounters

Galway have won all three of the encounters between the sides, with two of those defeats being by the odd goal. The sides last met at the end of June where Jenna Slattery’s penalty sealed Galway’s spot in the Semi-Final of the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup.
