The Teams
Treaty United
Sitting in ninth place on eleven points, it was another disappointing defeat last Saturday for Treaty United who had the greater amount of chances and possession, yet came away empty-handed from the Markets Field. Aoibhe Fleming’s first half strike bounced past the diving Annie Ulliac to give Bohemians the only goal of the game and all three points as a result.
It marks the side’s ninth defeat in eighteen outings and while manager Dominic Foley will take solace from the fact that his side have only lost by one goal on eight occasions but his side’s failure to turn performances into results will equally frustrate him.
One thing that may stand to Treaty on Sunday is their away form which has seen them have greater joy on the road than at home. Seven of their eleven league points have come away from home while they also picked up a win and a draw away to Crusaders and DLR Waves respectively in the All-Island Cup.
In terms of team news, Laura O’Neill missed out on last week’s defeat having featured against Ferns United the week prior, while Grace Gleeson remains out of action having last featured in Treaty’s 2-0 win away to DLR Waves. Mijke Roelfsema did return for last week’s home fixture and is a welcome boost to the side’s rearguard.
Sligo Rovers
Sitting in eleventh place on three points, Sligo Rovers suffered a 5-1 defeat away to Athlone Town last Saturday but played almost the entire game with ten players. Goalkeeper Bonnie McKiernan’s red card reduced Rovers to ten for the remainder, while McKiernan was soon joined in the stands by manager Tommy Hewitt who received a red card during the half-time break.
One positive that Sligo will take from the game is a goal from substitute Anna McDaniel who pounced on a long ball and finished well. That goal was just their fifth in the league and is something they will look to build upon this Sunday.
Previous Encounters
This fixture has been very tight over the years with both sides having one win each in their six meetings. Rovers were 3-1 winners when the sides met for the first time in April of 2022 but since then it has been Treaty who have generally been the better side when these two meet. The side’s first meeting this season saw a 0-0 draw at the Markets Field back in April.
Treaty United wins – 1
Draws – 4
Sligo Rovers wins – 1
