Treaty United

Tommy Barrett’s side were unbeaten when Finn Harps visited the Markets Field back in March. A Tony McNamee goal on 79 minutes ended this run and it’s been a grim few weeks in terms of results as Treaty struggle to arrest the recent slump.

A good performance in periods against UCD last Friday night was undermined slightly by individual errors as the Students came away from the Markets Field with three points in a relatively comfortable 2-0 win.

Barrett’s sides rarely languish in the quagmire for long though and they will be itching to get three points and start a winning run that would propel them back into contention for the play offs.

Finn Harps

Finn Harps have struggled in recent weeks themselves. Darren Murphy’s charges are now four games without a win and haven’t scored in three games. However, they remain just three points off second-placed UCD despite consecutive 2-0 defeats to Cobh Ramblers and Cork City, coming after a 1-0 loss in Athlone.

Their last point was one earned in frustration as an early lead at Ballybofey through McNamee was cancelled out by 10-man UCD in the 73rd minute. Ciaran Behan scoring the equaliser just 10 minutes after Mikey McCullagh was dismissed.

Past meetings

The clubs have only met five times in league competition, a 2-0 defeat for Treaty in Ballybofey, with goals from Ryan Rainey and Filip Fjeldheim Da Silva, deciding the game and a 3-0 win for Finn Harps at the Markets Field back in May marked the first two meetings between the clubs in 2023.

Treaty avenged those two early season defeats with a 1-0 in Donegal in August through a Dean George goal.

This was followed by a 2-0 home win for the Limerick side in October. A Marc Ludden penalty was followed by another goal from George to seal the victory.

It stands at two wins for Treaty to three for Finn Harps following the league game in March of this year.
