The Teams
Treaty United
Sitting in ninth place on eight points, a win for Treaty United on Saturday would move them away from the bottom two and push them further into the middle pack of teams. It was a disappointing outing last weekend as Treaty were defeated at home by Shamrock Rovers in convincing fashion. A number of players being unavailable for selection led to some chopping and changing in the Treaty starting line-up, but this is something that Dominic Foley and team will undoubtedly learn from.
New signings Danielle Steer and Anna Rockett came straight into last Saturday’s starting line-up while new addition Kayleigh Shackford was introduced off the bench, giving Treaty further depth in the squad.
DLR Waves
Sitting in tenth place on seven points, just one behind Treaty, DLR have won just once this season but come into Saturday’s game with some new signings and a bit of momentum off the back of some impressive performances. DLR were narrowly beaten at home to league leaders Athlone Town last week, but will take pride in how they performed as well as recent draws against Bohemians and Peamount United.
Laura Heffernan has added to her squad since the window opened on July 1st with Abbi Brophy (Wexford FC), Rachel Doyle and Shannon Coady (Shamrock Rovers) all joining the Waves. Captain Jess Gleeson has been imperious at the back since her return for injury and has helped DLR to pick up the aforementioned results, earning herself a nomination for June Player of the Month as a result.
Previous Encounters
DLR Waves have the superior record in terms of meetings between these sides, but it has been even in terms of recent meetings. The sides have met five times since the start of the 2023 season with each team having a win each and the other three games all ending as stalemates.
Treaty United wins – 3
Draws – 3
DLR Waves wins – 8
