It will be a hard task to get something out of the game, but one thing we are happy with the players about is their determination and willingness to compete which has given us a different flavour this year. There is a great bond within the squad to go on and achieve something this year.”

The Teams

Treaty United

9th placed Treaty United will be hoping to pull off a shock when they take to the Markets Field on Saturday. While they suffered defeat last weekend against Galway United, manager Alban Hysa and his troops will take some consolation in having lost by the narrowest of margins to the league’s most in-form side.

This youthful Treaty have proven to be a hard side to beat in 2023 with three of their five defeats being by just a single goal. The management have entrusted faith in the academy with Hannah Saidi, Katie Lawlee and Jessica Heffernan being just three names to have made the jump up from the underage ranks.

They face an attack-minded Peamount side who have shown some defensive frailties at times, so they will look to keep the opposition offence at bay and sting them with counter-attacks through the likes of Cara Griffin and Kiara Kilbey.

Peamount United

1st placed Peamount United will come to the Markets Field on Saturday looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table. Amidst fanfare surrounding Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne and co, Peamount have gone about their business quietly with just one loss in their eight outings thus far.

The Peas were held to a scoreless draw at home to Shamrock Rovers last week but could have very well won the game only for Karen Duggan’s penalty being saved at the death. Manager James O’Callaghan will be content with having gotten a result against one of the league’s top sides, but he will be looking to return to winning ways at the Markets Field ahead of a big clash with Galway United on May 20th.

Peamount boast the league’s current top scorer in Kate Mooney, while defender Tara O’Hanlon was recently capped for the Irish Women’s National Team and will therefore look to keep up her good performances in the hopes of being a member of Vera Pauw’s World Cup squad.
