Mara McLeary Re-Signs
Treaty United are pleased the announce that Mara McCleary has re-signed for the 2025 season.
The Canadian defender enters her first full season with the club having joined Treaty United late in the July transfer window. Mara made her debut in an FAI Cup victory over Ferns United and started in nine of the final ten games of the season, helping Treaty to keep four clean sheets in the process.
Prior to joining Treaty, Mara played collegiately with the UNBC Timberwolves where she won defender of the year four years running and was inducted into the Timberwolves Wall of Honour in 2022. Mara went on to spend two seasons with the Victoria Highlanders, being named in the league’s team of the week six times in twelve weeks.
Manager Sean Russell spoke to TreatyUnitedFC.com and emphasised how important it was to keep a player of Mara’s quality:
“Mara has a lot of good qualities as a defender. She is a key player for us in the upcoming
season. We are very happy to have her on board for the 2025 season.”
