Joe Hanson Signs
Treaty United are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian Joe Hanson.
The attacker signs after a successful trial period including a superb performance against Sligo Rovers which saw him pick up a goal and an assist.
Joe enjoyed a glittering career at underage level which culminated in him signing for the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy in August of 2019, eventually progressing to the club’s U23 and reserve sides. This move saw Hanson become the first person from Yukon to have played professionally, earning him the nickname of “Yukon Joe”. He lined out for the Whitecaps reserves in the MLS Next Pro league, America’s third tier, where he grabbed three goals in 36 appearances.
Joe most recently lined out for Valour FC in the Canadian Premier League, making eleven appearances for the Winnipeg-based side before making the move to Treaty United and becoming the newest addition to Tommy Barrett’s squad.
Joe spoke to TreatyUnitedFC.com and was excited about signing for the club and getting to
line out at the Markets Field on February 14th:
“I’m very excited to be signing with Treaty United, I think that it will be a great fit for me and will be an environment I can thrive in. I’m very grateful for the opportunity that Tommy and Ciara are giving me, and I honestly can’t wait for the season to start and to play in front of our fans at the Markets Field!”
Speaking to TreatyUnitedFc.com, Tommy Barrett was happy to have signed Joe for the new season and thinks he can make a big impact this season:
“We think Joe is going to be a good signing for us as he is coming in from a decent standard of league in MLS Next Pro. He’s a good athlete with a great presence that can play in a variety of positions across the front. While he has never played as a striker, he certainly has the build and frame of one. He can play out wide and in those attacking midfield positions so we think he can do well in the league and hope he can hit the ground running.”
