The EA Sports League of Ireland underage national competitions , rebranded this year as the League of Ireland Academy Development Programme, kicks off this weekend with the Boys Academy getting underway while the Girls Academy teams kick off next weekend. Treaty United will be fielding 6 Academy teams this season, with a team competing in each of the leagues under the Academy Development Program.  The U14 Boys have Eoghan McNulty as Head Coach while Ed Gallagher is Head Coach for the U15 Boys. The U17 Boys have Ciarán Kennedy Walsh as Head Coach while Declan Farmer continues as U19 Boys Coach. Marie Curtin is Head Coach for the Girls U17s and Leon Casey Ryan will take on the role as Head Coach for our first U19 Girls team.

Ahead of the season, we caught up John Maclean, Head of the Treaty United Legato Academy and asked him about his thoughts on the Academy for the season ahead.

“Our vision/ mission at Treaty United is to improve all our players within the academy not only on the pitch but off it also.

We are forming young men and women for a future in the game by improving their abilities,  skills. techniques and fitness in football. But we are also building confident, resilient and positive mindset young people.

We will endeavour to try and get our high potential players to international assessments and to trials with UK/ European clubs.

I hope that the coaches/players have an enjoyable and successful development season going forward in the 2023 academy season “
