Academy Report 5th-6th April

All 6 of our 6 Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy league action this weekend.

MU15

Our MU15s hosted Longford Town at the University of Limerick arena in Group C of the MU15 league.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Daniel O’Connell, Conor Kennedy, Danny Hammond, Jordan Brown, James Palache, Paddy Gubbins, Cathal Donnelly, Ben Doumbouya (C), Gavin Scanlan, Mark Regan, Wisdom Amaeze

Subs:

Alex Clancy, Alex Meaney, Mieszko Kurylonski, Conor Campbell, Conor Brady, Kaylum Matha, Mighty Odudu

An excellent performance from our MU15s as they comfortably beat Longford Town 6-0.

The team are implementing plans and growing as we are starting to work in logical sequences. We are still a work in progress but, regardless of the impressive scoreline our Key Performance Indicatiors were being ticked off. Our forwards scored, both wingers scored and a midfielder scored.

Connor Campbell grabbed himself a hatrick, while Cathal Donnelly, Alex Meaney and Kaylum Matha (from a set piece) grabbed one each.

We look forward to continue this progress week by week.

The MU15s are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Castlebar to play Mayo FC.

MU20

Our MU20s also hosted Longford Town in their League campaign when the midlanders visited the Manor Fields.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Conor Wall, Fintan McNamara, Seanie O’Haodha, Matt Jones (C), Dean Owens, Cian Mulvihill, Michael Mulcahy, Darren Nwankwo, Sean Costelloe, Scott Murphy, Kyle Foley

Subs:

Brandon Long, Kaden Deegan Herlihy, Ian O’Sullivan

Our MU20s suffered a disappointing 1-2 defeat at home to Longford this week. The visitors, stung by a hammering against Treaty the week previous, started much the stronger and physically imposed themselves on the game. They deservedly took the lead on the half hour mark after some more sloppy defending and increased their lead on the stroke of half time with a header direct from a corner. Treaty pulled one back early in the second half through the impressive Sean Costelloe but struggled after this to break down the visitors dogged defence. A limp display from the hosts which will need to improve drastically for the visit of Galway next Saturday.

WU17

Our WU17 continued their 2025 league campaign with their 3rd win in a row and 3rd clean sheet in a row in an excellent performance and 6-0 victory versus a tough and talented Cobh Ramblers side in the Manor Fields, Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Emma Jones, Eibhlin Butler, Alex Sheehy, Kate Lee, Aoibhe O’Leary, Rachel O’Shea, Kristina Bokmane (C), Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Mioda O’Shea, Ellen Goggin, Orlaith O’Connell

Subs:

Ruby Linnane, Caila Neligan, Jennifer Hogan, Mya Lee, Ellen Hackett, Mylie Treacy, Eleanor Blake

Our WU17s put in another super performance to beat a talented & improving Cobh Ramblers team at home in Adare to make it 3 wins in a row and 3 clean sheets in a row in the League of Ireland U17 Women’s Group B.

Treaty started well and had some early chances but the Cobh keeper was on form early on and made a number of smart saves to keep out efforts from Rachel O’Shea, Mioda O’Shea and Ellen Goggin. It needed something special to give the Treaty girls the lead and that came on 28 minutes when a sublime through ball from Ellen Goggin was picked up by captain Kristina Bokmane who slid the ball past the advancing keeper to go 1 up. Try as they did the Treaty girls couldn’t add to that goal and it ended at half time with just that slender one goal lead.

Treaty made a few changes at half time and on came the pacy Caila Neligan and Jennifer Hogan in defence and the strong Eleanor Blake up front as they pushed for more goals in a game they were dominating in possession. That 2nd goal came 3 minutes into the 2nd half when yet again the silky Ellen Goggin drove into the box by the end line on the left and picked out the forward run of Annabel Mulcaire Quille who buried her finish. Ellen’s assists just kept coming and on 55 minutes she again slipped a ball through the Cobh high line and on raced the powerful Eleanor Blake to outrun the chasing defenders and drive home from just inside the box. 5 minutes later it was an exact copy of the previous goal as Ellen again spotted Eleanor’s run behind the defence and she again raced onto the through ball to slam home her 2nd and Treaty’s 4th. Treaty made more changes as on came the solid Ellen Hackett at full back and the speedy Mya Lee on the wing to keep the pressure on Cobh. Eleanor was now on a hat trick and on 74 minutes she got her rewards after an excellent run and dribble from Mya Lee on the left wing saw her shot come back off the crossbar and Eleanor was there to poke home her 3rd and Treaty’s 5th. On 78th minutes it was role reversal as Eleanor was upended in the box by a late Cobh tackle to win a penalty for Treaty which Ellen stroked home for the goal her unbelievable efforts deserved.

Credit to Cobh who never stopped trying and came close on a number of occasions but were kept out by solid defending from the Treaty backline and both keepers with Emma Jones stepping out at half time to be replaced by Ruby Linnane and both keepers proud of yet another clean sheet.

Up next, the Treaty girls face a tough away game versus league leaders Cork City on Saturday, April 12th where the girls will look to make it 4 in a row. Thanks again to our injured squad players Mylie Treacy and Aoife Frawley for continuing to support their team mates and to the parents and large crowd who were very supportive on the day.

Sunday saw another three of our academy teams in action.

MU14

Our MU14s hosted Cobh Ramblers in the Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Sean O’Carroll, Marco Lopez, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini, Hugh Canty, Yanis Mambouna, Liam McCague, Dion Hannon, Jack Bourke, Sean Kelly (C), Adam Rochford

Subs:

Emmet O’Donnell, Harry Millan, Paddy O’Sullivan, Ciaran Irwin, Seamus Greene, Gabriel Nseka, Jude Cullen

The first game in the second round of fixtures for our MU14s. This was a game dominated by Treaty in glorious sunshine. We were very unfortunate to come out on wrong end of result conceding twice at the end of game.

There was some really good interplay between the units with high energy pressing from the team. Impressive performances from Jack Bourke, Harry Milan and Sean O Carroll.

Our MU14s are next in action on Sunday, April 13th when they are on the road to play CK United.

WU19

Our WU19s travelled to the Roadstone Complex in Dublin to to take on Shamrock Rovers.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Chloe Widger, Kate Jones, Emma Meaney, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Grace Ehinger, Ella Carey, Ciara Breslin, Jayne Ryan, Sirena Celebrini, Amy Tierney

Subs:

Niamh Kinnehan, Rhiann Murphy, Abbey Walsh, Chloe Wallace, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Saoirse Kent, Megan O’Reilly, Molly Lane, Suvi Isabella O’Connor

A stunning 35 minutes of football from the Treaty WU19s gave Shamrock Rovers little chance of claiming points in this superb game.

Treaty started on the front foot with Ciara Breslin, Jayne Ryan and Grace Ehinger causing all sorts of problems up front for the Rovers defence.

Within 4 minutes Ryan had her first of 2 for the day when she ran on to a superb cross from Breslin to send the ball to the roof of the net. Only 3 minutes later Jayne added her second of the day thanks to a long ball from Chloe Widger which Ryan chased down and intercepted to round the keeper and slot the ball home…. Treaty were flying!

While Rovers tried to push forward, the Treaty defence of Kate Jones, Emma Meaney, Ava Neary and Sadbh Griffin held firm with Jones and Griffin on the counter attack throughout the game.

On 19 minutes, Sirena Celebrini met a sublime pass from Amy Tierney at the edge of the box and made no mistake with her first time shot to have Treaty 3-0 up not even halfway through the first half. Tierney and Ella Carey in midfield were central to Treaty’s attack and on 35 minutes Celebrini got her second of the day when she met a Breslin pass to slot the ball home. Rovers pulled one back before the halftime whistle to give them a glimmer of hope for the second half.

The second half was an end to end affair, Chloe Widger in the Treaty goal was outstanding today and any threat from Rovers was quickly dealt with.

Lily Anne O Meara was causing all sorts of trouble after coming on at halftime and forced a corner on 63 mins for captain Ava Neary to nod home a classic delivery from Carey.

Rovers finished positively with a nicely worked goal 8 mins from time and a dubious penalty 3 minutes later. Throughout the half Treaty introduced fresh legs with Suvi O Connor, Molly Lane, Chloe Wallace, Megan O Reilly, Saoirse Kent and Abbey Walsh all adding to the value of a superb win and team effort for Treaty.

Our player of the match was Ciara Breslin.

Our WU19s are next in action on Sunday, April 13th, when they travel to Ferrycarrig Park to take on Wexford FC.

MU17

Our MU17s hosted Cobh Ramblers in the Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Conor Crofton, Tadhg McElligott, Rory McKeon (C), Warren O’Mahony, Colin Healy, Alex Omoruyi, Nathanael Mthembu, Christian Stack, Timmy O’Sullivan, James Rochford, Joey Nwankwo

Subs:

Darragh Van Veen, Kian Dempsey, Conor O’Mahony, Joe Murphy, Mark O’Callaghan, Sean Meere, Gavin Ryan

Our MU17 continue the progress after their last drawn outing at Waterford and emerged victorious on a 3-2 scoreline against Cobh Ramblers.

It was great to welcome back key defender Tadhg McElligott who had been out injured for a few weeks. We were 1-0 down after just 4 minutes by an individual mistake but adapted in second half and changed our wingers and they both scored.

This is a young squad with 8 players in the squad that are still underage next year. Two of those players, Gavin Ryan and Christian Stack were on the scoresheet with our third goal coming from Mark O’Callaghan.

Overall, there was some great fight shown by the side to come from behind to claim victory.

Our MU17s continue their league campaign on Sunday, April 13th, when they travel to play CK United.
