Further congratulations to Madison who was one of the nominees for Women’s Under-17 International Player of the Year. The winner will be announced on Friday 6th June.

Just two of our Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy action this weekend, both taking part in their respective cup competitions.

MU15

The MU15s kicked off their Michael Hayes National U15 Cup campaign when they hosted Sligo Rovers in the Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Daniel O’Connell, Conor Kennedy, James Palache (C), Alex Meaney, Conor Brady, Mieszko Kurylonski, Paddy Gubbins, Mighty Odudu, Cathal Donnelly, Wisdom Amaeze, Mark Regan

Subs:

Alex Clancy, Danny Hammond, Evan Hogan, Kaylum Matha, Conor Campbell, Jordan Brown

A fantastic comeback and quality penalties after the sides were level following extra time saw our MU15s advance in the Michael Hayes MU15 National Cup.

We were 2 goals down in this game after just 23 minutes. A slip at the back allowed Sligo in for an opener after only 7 minutes. The concession of the goal seemed to knock us off our stride and for the next 15 minutes we weren’t able to get control of the game and conceded a second in the 23rd minute.

However, credit to the players they dug deep and pulled a goal back before half time through Conor Brady.

We adapted in the second half and controlled the game and Wisdom Amaeze brought the sides level on the hour mark. We continued to dominate and missed a great chance to take the lead. The game finished 2-2 at the end of normal time.

Extra time failed to separate the sides and the game was decided on a penalty shoot out with the Treaty boys proving the more accurate with successful penalties from Alex Meaney, Cathal Donnelly, Mighty Odudu and James Palache.

Congrats to the MU15s on the win and progression to the second round.

WU19

Our WU19s rounded off the group Phase of the WU19 National Cup when they welcomed Finn Harps to the Frank Healy Park in Ennis.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Niamh Kinnehan, Emma Meaney, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Chloe Wallace, Jayne Ryan, Saoirse Kent, Grace Ehinger, Ella Carey, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Lily-Anne O’Meara

Subs:

Rhiann Murphy, Megan O’Reilly, Sirena Celebrini, Abbey Walsh, Orla Heather

Our WU19s have qualified as group winners for the WU19 Cup quarter finals following a dominant display in Frank Healy Park, Ennis.

This win was the third in 3 games at the group stages of the competition. Treaty started brightly, dominating possession, and found themselves adapting well to the blustery weather conditions. The first goal of the game came on 22 minutes when Suvi O Connor chased down a through pass from Saoirse Kent. O Connor stepped inside the retreating Finn Harps defence and fooled everyone with a quick shot inside the near post to take the lead. The Treaty midfield of Ella Carey, Grace Ehinger and Saoirse Kent were in full control and on 36 minutes O Connor got her second of the game when Grace Ehinger set a sweet pass along the edge of the box for a superb strike from the Kerry native.

Finn Harps attempts at breaking down the defence of Emma Meaney, Ava Neary, Chloe Wallace and Sadbh Griffin were met with what can only be described as a brick wall, while Niamh Kinehan in goal dealt aptly with anything that trickled through.

On the resumption of the second half, Harps stepped up the pace and once again met with a defiant Treaty team.

The introduction of Sirena Celebrini and Abbey Walsh to the Treaty attack paid dividends with Celebrini scoring Treaty’s third goal served by a fabulous pass from Ava Neary. Megan O Reilly and Orla Heather came into the Treaty defence and again were outstanding in their performances. Goalkeeper Rhiann Murphy was introduced to the game after returning to play from injury and continued Kinehans’ efforts for the clean sheet.

Abbey Walsh was unlucky not to add to the lead a number of times, and so too Lily Anne O Meara and Jayne Ryan, whose work on the wings was exceptional.

Treaty’s fourth and final goal came from a fantastic cross from Ehinger to the back post where the energetic Lily Anne O Meara was arriving to smash the ball to the net.

A superb squad effort today and Treaty well deserving of their win and clean sheet.
