All 6 of our Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy league action this weekend. It was another weekend of mixed results with 3 wins and 3 defeats.

Result:
Wexford FC 2 Treaty United 0
The MU20s suffered a costly defeat in Wexford on Saturday and fall back into the chasing pack for the second promotion place to the Elite phase.
Treaty started much the brighter but squandered some glorious opportunities to take the lead. Wexford to their credit dug in and were rewarded for their tenacity when capitalising on a comical defensive error to take the lead. Treaty missed gilt edge chances either side of the break to equalize but again shot themselves in the foot with another horrendous defensive mistake to gift the hosts a second decisive goal. Richkov Boevi turned in another professional performance and as a result has been rewarded with recent call ups to the senior squad.
The MU20s are in action again next Saturday when they host table toppers Waterford FC in The Manor Fields, Adare at 2PM.
MU15
Next up were our MU15s who travelled to Charleville to take on Limerick FC in a local derby. Treaty had recorded a 5-0 victory when the sides met earlier in the season in the Manor Fields, Adare.

Conor Crofton, Sean Meere, Conor O’Mahony, Kian Dempsey, Jack Cregan, Christian Stack, Dylan Browne, Xavier O’Nialagain, Aaron Cobbs-Sarko, Patrick Edroso, Nathan Robinson
Subs:

Limerick FC 1 Treaty United 6
Our MU15s had an away game in Charleville against Limerick FC. Missing 4 players through injury and illness we had a small bench, but thankfully we were ok winning 6 – 1. First 30 minutes ended 2 nil to us with Christian Stack with a wonderful finish after a great pass from Jack Creagan. Then, after excellent pressing, Sean Meere had a great shot from outside the box which finished up in the bottom corner. The second 30 saw us concede a silly goal from a corner but just 2 minutes later Christian Stack got his second with a great header at the back post after a fine cross from Conor O’Mahony. The final 30 minutes saw Conor O’Mahony score directly from a corner, Dylan Browne add another with a nice finish after a great run from Bryan Parish and then to finish off the scoring Aaron Cobbs-Sarko grabbed the 6th from a great through ball from Conor O’Mahony.
The MU15s play their final Phase 1 group game this coming Saturday when they travel to Bishopsgate to take on Longford Town. If they equal or better Sligo Rovers result then they qualify for the Elite League in Phase 2.
WU17
Our final side in action on Saturday were our WU17s who travelled to Castlebar to take on Mayo FC. Treaty ran out 3-0 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Niamh Kinnehan, Chloe Wallace, Kristina Bokman (C), Kate Jones, Mioda O’Shea, Ava Neary, Rachel O’Shea, Annabelle Mulcaire Quille, Saoirse Kent, Grace Ehinger, Ciara Breslin
Subs:
Aibhlinn Cotter, Emma Meaney, Ewelina Stankevituite, Aideen Riedy, Kate Lee, Aine Bonfil
Result:
Mayo FC 2 Treaty United 7
Our WU17s got off to a poor start against Mayo away last Saturday conceding in the opening 10 minutes. We played some lovely football and scores looked inevitable. It took us till the half hour mark for Ciara Breslin to open our scoring with a beautiful first-time finish from a ball whipped into the box by right full back, Kate Jones. Our second came minutes later with another Ciara Breslin finish assisted by Mioda O’Shea. Ava Neary was up next with a cracking header from a Rachel O’Shea corner. A minute later, Rachel O’Shea got Treaty’s fourth with a nice bit of team build up play from the back and finally assisted by Grace Ehinger. We went into the break up 4-1.
Chloe Wallace stepped into a defensive mid role in the second half, and picked up a goal from a 25 yard strike from distance, assisted by Grace Ehinger again.
We fell asleep again 20 minutes into the second half when Mayo hit a direct ball over the top, we didn’t deal with the breaking ball and we conceded a disappointing second.
We brought in some more fresh legs, and it played off a couple of minutes later with another team build-up in possession and a dangerous cross into the box for the opposition to deal with and a goal was taken well by the hard working attacking midfielder, Saoirse Kent. We finished our scoring with an Aibhlinn Cotter corner ball whipped into the box and finished well from another Saoirse Kent finish from her head.
Next up for the WU17s is a trip to The Showgrounds to take on Sligo Rovers on Saturday.
Sunday saw the remaining three of our academy teams in action at home.
MU14
Our MU14s hosted Sligo Rovers in The Manor Fields in Adare at 2PM. When the sides met in March in the Showgrounds, Sligo Rovers ran out 2-0 winners.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Daniel O’Connell, Evan Hogan, Jordan Brown, Sam Newman, Joshua Daly, Liam Flynn, Ben Doumbouya, Conor Kennedy, Mighty Odudu, Paddy Gubbins, Wisdom Amaeze
Subs:
Ross Ryan, Conor Campbell, Emmett Hawkins, Sean Casey, Konrad Miskiewicz
Result:
Treaty United 4 Sligo Rovers 1
Our MU14s had the final game of Phase 1 at home to Sligo Rovers in the Manor Fields, Adare. It is a Treaty side that has been building good performances in the last few weeks and were hoping to continue trending in that direction.
The first of the three thirds opened with Treaty aggressively playing in the Sligo half of the pitch and threatening the Sligo goal. Treaty controlled the game with a possession based style of football and aggressive pressing when out of possession.
The middle third saw Sligo grow more into the game creating a new challenge for Treaty in build up. As the game progressed, Treaty found their rhythm again and eventually were rewarded for their efforts as a precise Paddy Gubbins corner was attacked by Liam Flynn and the resulting challenge saw the ball fly into the Sligo net. Treaty created some great chances on goal in that middle third but the Sligo goalkeeper kept the score to 1-0.
The final third was full of energy despite the entire game being played at a high tempo. Treaty saw their good work undone as Sligo capitalised on a bouncing ball in the penalty area and a shot crept into the bottom corner to level the game up. It wasn’t long before Treaty found themselves back in front through a very similar goal to Sligo’s as Sean Casey cooly slotted the ball home into the bottom corner. The lead was soon extended as Conor Kennedy weaved his way through the Sligo defence and slotted home after riding a challenge from the onrushing goalkeeper. Treaty weren’t done as Conor Kennedy again went 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper who could only parry the shot and Konrad Miskiewicz was on hand to tap in Treaty United’s 4th of the game.
Overall it was another great step forward for this Treaty side who have been working very hard to play an attractive style of football. The effort of this group has been top class and it’s shown on the pitch with their relentless pressure.
WU19
At the same time, our WU19s were hosting Waterford FC in the UL North Campus in the first of two back to back league games against the same opposition.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Marie Curtin, Sadbh Griffin, Molly Lane, Shauna Pearson, Ella Carey, Siobhán McMahon, Yanna Leahy, Naoise Griffin, Jayne Ryan, Vittoria Rainusso, Holly O’Brien,
Subs:
Avril Tangri, Sophie McIlrath, Aisling Hardiman, Judith Egan, Abbey Walsh, Ailbhe O’Connell
Result:
Treaty United 0 Waterford FC 2
On Sunday we faced an in-form Waterford team who were coming to UL while sitting in second place on the table. In the past we have had close encounters with them and once again that was the case this time around. Our girls started the game really well and put together some good passages of play. Credit to the visitors, their defensive unit was quite resolute throughout the afternoon and although we had good regular build up play, they restricted us from causing any major trouble on their goals. Waterford broke the deadlock 10 minutes before the break when we failed to deal with a runner from midfield who latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the box.
Determined to continue with the energy and enthusiasm we saw in the first half, our girls worked hard to keep the pressure on the travelling team. Conditions on the day were very warm and fresh legs were introduced to try sustain the team effort. Abbey Walsh’s introduction proved to be an immediate impact and her directness won us a penalty. Ella Carey stepped up to convert but the keeper guessed right and denied us from getting an equaliser. This seemed to galvanise Waterford even more and minutes later they broke on a counter attack and our defence was caught ball watching leaving their striker free in a central area to stroke home for their second.
The overall performance of the team was far better than what we have seen recently which is encouraging. Some of the players that came to the fore in the game were Sadbh Griffin, Jayne Ryan as well as positive impact from Abbey Walsh.
The WU19s will play the same opposition, Waterford FC, next Sunday down in Waterford in their final game of Phase 1 of the league.
MU17
Our MU17s hosted Waterford FC in The Manor Fields in Adare. Treaty United had an excellent 3-0 away victory when the sides met earlier in the season in Waterford.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Conor Wall, Brandon Long, Matt Jones (C), Charlie Campbell, Michael Mulcahy, Tony Hourigan, Danny Lyne, Cullen Wiegand, Colin Healy, Tiernan Adelu, Jack Keogh
Subs:
Ike Manjor, Kieran Doyle, Jamie Faulkner, Alex Omoruyi, Conor Crofton, Patrick Ryan
Result:
Treaty United 1 Waterford FC 2
The MU17s had their first loss since the opening day of the season falling at home to Waterford FC. Treaty went ahead inside the first minute through a Tiernan Adelu wonder strike cutting in from the left and curling the ball into the far top corner. Waterford were back on level terms when a defensive error left the Waterford No.10 an empty goal to finish in. Treaty created plenty of chances but were made to pay for their wayward finishing when Waterford scored a good goal on the counter attack. Treaty pressed for an equaliser but were met with a very resolute Waterford defence and a goalkeeper in great form.
The MU17s are in action again next Sunday when they host CK United at 2.30PM in The Manor Fields Adare.
