It was a very busy weekend on the playing front with all six of our Carelon Academy teams in action. Two sides, the MU14s and WU17s were in cup action while the other four were taking part in their respective league campaigns. We also had two Tuesday games for the MU20s and MU15s covered in this report.

MU20

First into action for the weekend were our MU20s who travelled to Bray to take on the home side in the league.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Adam Brennan, Fintan McNamara, Richkov Boevi, Fintan O’Kelly, Brandon Long, Mark Murphy (C), Seanie O’Haodha, Isaac O’Sullivan, Ross Bermingham, Shane Franklin, Kyle Foley

Subs:

Conall Stapleton, Luke Ryan, Ryan Perez, Cian Mulvihill, Charlie Campbell, Donnacha O’Leary

Result:

Bray Wanderers 3 Treaty United 1

The MU20s suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Bray Wanderers last Saturday. There was nothing between the two teams but Treaty gifted all three goals to the hosts with some shocking defensive errors. A late Ryan Perez goal put some gloss on the score but in truth Treaty didn’t deserve anything from game.

This game was followed by a mid-week game at home to CK Utd in the University of Limerick campus on Tuesday night.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Michael Dike, Fintan McNamara, Jack Kavanagh, Richkov Boevi, Mark Murphy (C), Seanie O’Haodha, Adam O’Halloran, Colin Conroy, David Tarmey, Shane Franklin, Kyle Foley

Subs:

Adam Brennan, Isaac O’Sullivan, Ross Bermingham, Conall Stapleton, Luke Ryan, Ryan Perez, Leon Kirrane

Result:

Treaty United 5 CK United 0

The MU20s bounced back strongly from their weekend defeat to record a 5-0 victory. A first half goal from David Tarmey saw us take a one goal lead into half time. Second half finishes from Ryan Perez, Leon Kirrane, Shane Franklin and Ross Bermingham handed us a comfortable win.

MU15

Next up were our MU15s who hosted St Patrick’s Athletic in the Manor Fields in Adare in their Tier 1 league campaign.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Darragh Van Veen, Conor O’Mahony, Kian Dempsey, Sean Potter, Jack Cregan (C), Christian Stack, Gavin Ryan, Dylan Browne, Xavier O’Nialagain, Aaron Cobbs-Sarko, Nathan Robinson

Subs:

Daniel O’Connell, Sean Meere, Unai Ngache, Ewan Coulter, Darragh Kirwan, Saleem Ojulari

Result:

Treaty United 0 St Patrick’s Athletic 9

On Saturday, our MU15s hosted St. Patrick’s Athletic in Adare. Unfortunately, on the day, our boys were no match for the visitors and we fell to a heavy defeat.

Three days later they were in action again, on the road to take on Galway United.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Darragh Van Veen, Sean Meere, Conor O’Mahony, Kian Dempsey, Jack Cregan (C), Christian Stack, Gavin Ryan, Dylan Browne, Xavier O’Nialagain, Ewan Coulter, Darragh Kirwan

Result:

Galway United 4 Treaty United 2

A much improved performance from our MU15s but despite a brace from Dylan Browne, the home side collected all three points on a 4-2 scoreline.

WU17

Our WU17s took the long trip to Bishopsgate to take on Longford Town in the second round of the WU17 National Cup.

Starting 11:

Niamh Kinehan, Kate Lee, Kate Jones, Emma Meaney, Aibhlinn Cotter, Kristina Bokmane (C), Mioda O’Shea, Eleanor Blake, Grace Ehinger, Ciara Breslin, Rachel O’Shea

Subs:

Saoirse Kent, Summer Behan

Result:

Longford Town 0 Treaty United 7

Our WU17s were back to action this weekend. The team looked recharged and sharp after having the previous weekend off. They showed great energy and quality as they got back to winning ways.

The first goal of the day came five minutes in when Aoibhlinn Cotter showed good composure from the back to break the midfield line and find Eleanor Blake who beat the Longford defender after a powerful run down the left-hand side to cross low at the front post to Ciara Breslin who showed her striker instinct as she was on target to tap home for her first goal of the day.

Five minutes later Treaty United doubled their lead when Kristina Bokmane showed good intelligence to intercept a Longford attack and find Rachel O’ Shea in midfield who executed a clever pass down the side of the Longford centre back which was matched by clever movement from Ciara Breslin who managed to break away from the defence and showed great composure to slot the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 to the away side and get her second of the day.

Longford Town showed a good response to the two early goals conceded and continued to push forward and ask questions of the Treaty defence.

Fortunately for Treaty it was not long until they grabbed their third of the afternoon. Thirteen minutes into the game and Rachel O’ Shea and Ciara Breslin were showing some great link play when Breslin’s run was spotted by O’ Shea for a second time and she slipped Breslin in behind the defence. Breslin found Mioda O’ Shea breaking from midfield to arrive on the edge of the box and set herself up with one touch to beat her defender and a second to smash home a fantastic strike from 20 yards out. This was just a sign of things to come from the midfielder.

Just before halftime Treaty grabbed their fourth. Some quick one touch passing from the back broke the Longford press and found Saoirse Kent in space. The lively Kate Jones made an overlapping run to buy Kent time on the ball who swung in a deep cross which was met by the determined Eleanor Blake. Blake’s desire was awarded with a goal after a mix up between the opposition goalkeeper and defender and was on hand to slot into the corner of the net. Treaty went into the half team period 4-0.

After the break, Treaty managed to establish more control of the game and showed good patience as the built up to the fifth goal of the day. Kate Jones intelligent pass between the Longford centre back and fullback was right into the path of Mioda O’ Shea who passed across goal to Rachel O’ Shea who tapped home for the fifth of the day.

Treaty managed the keep the ball well and maintain a good tempo to their play. Both centre backs Aoibhlinn Cotter and Kate Lee showed and alertness to deal with any threats from Longford and great quality to start attacks. Both centre backs showcased their excellent passing range. Lee was quick to pounce on a breaking ball ahead of the Longford forward and find Kate Jones with a first-time pass. Jones in return played a clever first time ball from the wide area into midfield to Sommer Behan who calmly controlled and passed into Mioda O’ Shea who got her second of the day when she blasted home for the edge of the box, the goalkeeper managed the get a hand to it but not enough to keep it out.

Treaty continued to play and create several chances, but the Longford GK showed that there was still some fight left in this Longford team and defended to goal superbly. This effort was matched by her teammates as they all continued to work hard and keep pushing.

Three minutes from time Treaty United scored their seventh of the game. Kristina Bokmane showed some great skill out wide to create space to cross for the on running Mioda O’ Shea who capped off a player of the match performance and sealed her hatrick when she coolly took the ball around the defender and slotted the ball between the legs of the goalkeeper to make it 7-0. Treaty United progress to the next round of the cup and will return the league action next week as they take on Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday night at 19:30 in what is sure to be an exciting game.

The WU17 management team also want to wish the best of luck to Aoibhlinn Cotter, Chloe Wallace, Kate Jones, Grace Ehinger and Madison McGuane who will represent the Republic of Ireland WU17 vs Northern Ireland on Sunday August 18th.

On Sunday, we had another 3 of our academy teams in action.

MU17

Our first game on Sunday saw our MU17s host Shelbourne FC in their Tier 1 league campaign in the Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Conor Crofton, Kieran Doyle, Joey Nwankwo, Brandon Long, Jamie Faulkner, Matt Jones (C), Cullen Wiegand, Charlie Campbell, Scott Murphy, Rhys Barry, Jack Keogh

Subs:

Michael Mulcahy, Alex Omoruyi, Ike Manjor, Colin Healy, Patrick Ryan, Darragh Van Veen

Result:

Treaty United 1 Shelbourne 6

Our MU17s fell to a heavy defeat at home to Shelbourne in the fourth round of the Elite Phase.

Treaty fell behind 2-0 early on before starting to find a footing in the game. Scott Murphy pulled a goal back in the 35th minute for the home side. Treaty had a good spell at 2-1 and looked to be right back in the game. A poor mistake in the 43rd minute handed a 3rd goal to Shelbourne. Treaty failed to get back in to the game. Shels added a 4th on the stroke of half time.

The second half was more of the same with Shelbourne having the upper hand. Shels added 2 more second half goals to complete their scoring.

Next up for the MU17s is a tricky mid week away fixture with UCD followed by Bohemians at home on Sunday.

WU19

Our WU19s travelled to Woodlands to take on Bray Wanderers in the second game of Phase 2 of their league.

Starting 11:

Jenna Murphy, Molly Lane, Siobhán McMahon, Ella Carey, Sadbh Griffin, Jayne Ryan, Holly O’Brien (C), Jessica Heffernan, Judith Egan, Abbey Walsh, Hannah Saidi

Subs:

Katelynn O’Dwyer Guerin, Sophie McIlrath, Yanna Leahy, Rhianne Ryan, Evelina Stankevituite

Result:

Bray Wanderers 0 Treaty United 4

Our WU19s travelled to Greystones United to play Bray Wanderers. In the last game for Bray Wanderers they showed real resilience against CK United coming from behind to get a late equaliser to make it 4-4. This bounce-back-ability was seen as a possible threat.

Half way through the first moiety, Ella Carey neatly controlled the ball and quickly struck the ball with great effect, breaking the deadlock. There was quite a bit of dangerous attacks been created by our crew but we were looking to find that clinical edge. As the half continued, Bray Wanderers showed some threat and troubled our goals with a really good effort from a set piece that struck the front of the post – a wake up call.

Just minutes before the break Sadbh Griffin showed her balance and quality on the ball weaving her way into a dangerous area where she fired home our second.

In the second half there was a noticeable increase in intensity from both sides. With a strong bench we made two double changes towards the three quarter mark. Yanna Leahy and Rhianne Ryan replaced Holly O’Brien and Abbey Walsh. A few minutes after that Hannah Saidi and Ella Carey made way for Evelina Stankeviciute and Katelynn O’Dwyer Guerin.

About 10 minutes after her introduction captain Yanna Leahy found the net to make it 3-0 and Siobhán McMahon found herself playing higher from centre back which afforded her the chance to fire home for our fourth and final goal of the day.

The result keeps us top of the table. Next up is a visit from Waterford in 2 weeks time. Thanks to all who made the effort to travel the distance to the Woodlands, your support is much appreciated as usual.

MU14

Last up on Sunday were our MU14s who travelled to the Roadstone Complex to play Shamrock Rovers in the Eddie Wallace Cup group stage.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Daniel O’Connell, Joe McAuliffe, Sam Newman, Jordan Brown, Paddy Gubbins, James Palache, Alex Meaney, Conor Kennedy, Ben Doumbouya, Konrad Miskiewicz, Evan Hogan (C)

Subs:

J Prendergast, Liam Flynn, R Martin, Wisdom Amaeze, Mighty Odudu, Emmett Hawkins, Sean Casey, Mieszko Kurylonski, Conor Campbell

Result:

Shamrock Rovers 2 Treaty United 0

Our MU14s continued their campaign with an away fixture against Shamrock Rovers. Treaty United struggled to gain momentum or find a rhythm in the early stages, but credit must go to the young players as they continued to try to play football and didn’t give in, even though things were difficult.

Shamrock Rovers played very well in the first 25-minute third, and Treaty United found it challenging to gain any foothold in the game. The pressure from the Dublin side paid off, as they went 1-0 up after just 8 minutes. Despite Treaty United’s efforts, the score remained 1-0 at the break.

Disaster struck early in the second third when Shamrock Rovers were awarded a penalty just one minute in. They converted this chance, extending their lead to 2-0. However, Treaty United responded with an improved performance, pressing Rovers with real intent and forcing some errors from their opponents. Midway through this period, Treaty United were handed another boost when a Rovers striker was sent off, reducing them to 10 men. Despite creating several opportunities and having a penalty claim of their own turned down, Treaty United failed to convert any of their chances.

The final 25 minutes of the game mirrored the middle third. Shamrock Rovers stood strong and continued to be a threat, even with a man down. Treaty players gave it their all, making it difficult for the home side. A final push came four minutes from time when a second Shamrock Rovers player was dismissed. Treaty United had a big chance from the resulting free kick, but it wasn’t to be on the day.

Despite the 2-0 defeat, the Treaty U14s can be very proud of their performance. They showed resilience, adaptability, and determination against a strong Shamrock Rovers side. The team will look to build on this positive performance in their next fixture, drawing confidence from their ability to overcome adversity and maintain their possession-based style of play
