Academy Report 17th-18th May 2025

Elite Phase

Congratulations to both the WU17 and MU17 Squads who qualified for the Elite Phase of their respective leagues by finishing second in their Phase 1 groups. They will participate in a League Phase which contains the top 8 teams in the country.

Just two of our Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy action this weekend.

MU14

The MU14s finished off the first Phase of their league campaign with a back fixture against Cork City in the Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Emmet O’Donnell, Marco Lopez, Harry Millan, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini, Yanis Mambouna, Paddy O’Sullivan, Liam McCague, Jack Sheehy, Dion Hannon, Sean Kelly (C)

Subs:

Sean O’Carroll, Jude Cullen, Gabriel Nseka, Jack Bourke, Ciaran Irwin

Our MU14s played their last game in Phase 1 of the league. A fantastic first 45 minutes saw us have control of the game and go 1-0 up through a Fionn Kennedy penalty. Unfortunately, some injures in defensive areas led to Cork capitalising and going on to win the game comfortably. Some excellent pressing and a great performance by the opposition goalkeeper kept Treaty at bay. All in all, some really good learnings from development Phase 1 of the league.

Players of the match were Sean Kelly and Paddy O’ Sullivan. We look forward to playing Galway, Bohemians and Longford Town in next phase.

WU19

Our WU19s travelled to the Showgrounds to take on Sligo Rovers in game 2 of their WU19 Group 2 Cup campaign.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Niamh Kinnehan, Emma Meaney, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Chloe Wallace, Jayne Ryan, Saoirse Kent, Grace Ehinger, Ella Carey, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Sirena Celebrini

Subs:

Rhiann Murphy, Megan O’Reilly, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Kate Jones, Abbey Walsh

Treaty came out on top in the second game of the Cup campaign with a hard fought 1-0 win in Sligo’s superb Showgrounds pitch on Sunday. A game that was fraught with many missed chances including shouts for a penalty when Lily Anne O Meara was brought down inside the area all went begging. A huge squad effort on a day when the temperatures hit 26 degrees on the pitch, Treaty used the rotation rule to keep fresh legs on the pitch as much as possible. Treaty could have easily been in trouble with only 10 minutes remaining in the match when Sligo went 2v1 with Niamh Kinehan in goal only for Megan O Reilly’s recovery to make a last ditch tackle and block an open goal for Sligo much to the delight of the Treaty faithful in the stands. The resilience and attitude of each player to continue to work right up to the final whistle was evident when the all important goal came in the 93rd minute when a sublime delivery from Grace Ehinger from the corner was met sweetly by Abbey Walsh to head to the back of the net and keep Treaty 2 wins from 2 in the cup with their final group match next week in Ennis when Finn Harps are the visitors.
