Academy Report 10th-11th May 2025

International News

Congratulations to Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Madison McGuane and Ellen Goggin on being called up for the Rep of Ireland U16 squad for the upcoming UEFA Development Tournament in Finland that will see them take on Belgium, Finland and Switzerland.

All 6 of our Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy action this weekend, 5 in league group stages while our WU19s started their Group A Cup campaign. We had 3 wins and 2 draws from the 6 games.

MU15

Our MU15s hosted joint leaders Galway United in their final Group C league game in The Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Daniel O’Connell, Conor Kennedy, Danny Hammond, James Palache, Alex Meaney, Conor Brady, Paddy Gubbins, Gavin Scanlan, Mighty Odudu, Ben Doumbouya (C), Mark Regan

Subs:

Alex Clancy, Cathal Donnelly, Wisdom Amaeze, Mieszko Kurylonski, Evan Hogan, Kaylum Matha, Conor Campbell

Our MU15s drew 1-1 with Galway United who had come to the Manor Fields as Group C league leaders. The result means that the MU15s finish third in their group.

After our winning run came to an end last week, we came back strong and the team can be proud of themselves and their performance and they were really really unfortunate not to keep the 3 points at home. This was an excellent game and a real mind opener to show our growth and development playing against a team with Irish internationals in it.

We worked on a system trap that the team implemented that was needed after last week’s game and gave us learning to work for. After an evenly matched first half, the sides went into the interval at 0-0.

We took the lead in the second half through Kaylem Matha and looked in control until we were reduced to 10 players. Galway equalised with the last play of the game deep in added time.

WU17

Our WU17 travelled to Killeshin to take on CK United in their final Group B league game with qualification for the Elite Phase of the league in the balance.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Ruby Linnane, Eibhlin Butler, Caila Neligan, Alex Sheehy, Kate Lee, Jennifer Hogan, Mya Lee, Kristina Bokmane (C), Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Aoife Frawley, Ellen Goggin,

Subs:

Emma Jones, Mioda O’Shea, Eleanor Blake, Ellen Hackett, Mylie Treacy, Aoibhe O’Leary, Orlaith O’Connell

Our WU17s made it back to back wins as they closed out phase 1 of ttheWU17 League of Ireland with a hard fought 3-1 victory away to a physical CK United side. Needing a win to try to maintain their push for a place in the elite phase, Treaty started with great pace and slick passing all over the pitch and wingers Mya Lee and Ellen Goggin were causing huge problems to the CK defence along with the tireless work of Aoife Frawley at centre forward. This work led to the opener for Treaty when Aoife fed Mya who was taken down inside the box for a penalty on 8 mins and up stepped the ice cool Ellen Goggin to slot home the spot kick.

Treaty pressed hard for a 2nd and on 17 minutes were rewarded when a brilliant cross from the right from Annabel Mulcaire Quille was volleyed home from close range by Ellen for her second. Credit to CK who got back into the game on the 28th min when a long kickout bounced favorably for their forward to lob Ruby Linnane in the Treaty goal. Ruby made a number of important saves to keep Treaty ahead along with an excellent goal line clearance from the energetic midfielder Alex Sheehy. Treaty continued to dominate with their passing and strength with Jennifer Hogan, Kate Lee, Eibhlin Butler and Caila Neligan spreading the ball from defence through midfield and wide to regularly open up the CK press and end the half 2-1 ahead.

The second half saw Mioda O’Shea, Ellen Hackett, Mylie Tracey, Aoibhe O’Leary and Emma Jones (in goals) join the play and Treaty needed the fresh legs as CK really tried to impose their physical game on the girls but this was matched by captain Kristina Bokmane in midfield and the engine of Annabel alongside. A 3rd goal was needed to close out the game and it eventually came on 90 minutes when Mioda and Ellen Goggin played a short corner and Ellen hit a screamer from just inside the box on the left and beyond the dive from the CK keeper for her hat trick and the win Treaty needed and deserved.

A tough game but again this group showed they can grind out results when required along with playing some sublime football. A big thanks to the injured Orlaith O’Connell and Eleanor Blake for coming to support their team and the big crowd who travelled and were entertained yet again.

MU20

Our MU20s hosted Galway United in their final Group C league game in The Manor Fields in Adare.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Carl Williams, Fintan McNamara, Matt Jones (C), Darren Nwankwo, Ian O’Sullivan, Roy Lawlor, Brandon Long, Sean Costelloe, Scott Murphy, Ben Lee, Joe Hanson

Subs:

Darragh Van Veen, Seanie O’Haodha, Kaden Deegan Herlihy, Kyle Foley, Cian Carmody, Michael Mulcahy, Tiernan Adelu

Our MU20s good form continued with a comprehensive 3-1 over table toppers Galway United. Scott Murphy banged in another two and Roy Lawlor opened his Treaty account to give the hosts a three goal lead. Galway replied with one second half goal and pushed hard to make a game of it. Carl Williams saved a late penalty to prevent a nervous finish.

Sunday saw another three of our academy teams in action.

MU14

Our MU14s took on Waterford FC in the Manor Fields in Adare in their final Group B league fixture.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Emmet O’Donnell, Marco Lopez, Harry Millan, Jude Cullen, Yanis Mambouna, Gabriel Nseka, Jack Bourke, Ciaran Irwin, Dion Hannon, Sean Kelly (C), Adam Rochford

Subs:

Sean O’Carroll, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini, Liam McCague, Paddy O’Sullivan, Jack Sheehy

Tough day at the office for our youngest stars . We got off to a great start, a fantastic strike from Gabriel Neska had us 1-0 up early onon. It was1-1 after the first period. Our opponents took the lead and pushed on from there. A few mistakes, consistent with development football, had us trailing. We didn’t give up and kept too our principles until the end.

Notable performances by Adam Rochford and captain Sean Kelly.

WU19

Our WU19s travelled to Castlebar to take on Mayo FC in the opening game of their WU19 Group 2 Cup campaign.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Niamh Kinnehan, Megan O’Reilly, Emma Meaney (C), Sadbh Griffin, Chloe Wallace, Jayne Ryan, Saoirse Kent, Ella Carey, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Abbey Walsh

Subs:

Rhiann Murphy, Ava Neary, Grace Ehinger, Sirena Celebrini, Aibhlinn Cotter

The long trip to Mayo was a worthwhile one with or WU19s coming away with a comfortable win.

Treaty got off to the perfect start and within 7 minutes were ahead through the ever industrious Abbey Walsh finishing from close range from a Jayne Ryan assist.

Lily Anne O Meara continued her rich vein of form and in the 10th minute got upended in the area to give Treaty a penalty opportunity which Ella Carey happily finished to put Treaty ahead by 2 in the first quarter.

Treaty had numerous chances before the half with Suvi O Connor, Lily Anne O Meara and Saoirse Kent all going close to adding to the score while the defensive unit of Niamh Kinehan (GK), Megan O Reilly, Emma Meaney, Chloe Wallace and Sadbh Griffin were in excellent form.

Treaty again wasted no time on the restart, and the introduction of Sirena Celebrini had an immediate effect with her first of 2 goals on 53 minutes, thanks again to Jayne Ryan providing the assist. Ryan was then rewarded for her hard work and scored shortly after from a perfect cross from Grace Ehinger. Treaty were now flying, and each player was putting in a huge shift. Grace Ehinger was also another gamechanger and got her goal on the hour mark with Jayne Ryan returning the previous favour of the assist to Ehinger. A lapse in concentration allowed Mayo a goal back to make it 1-5 on 70 minutes but Treaty switched back on again and Ella Carey scored the goal of the game with a 30 yard piledriver after collecting a poor clearance from Mayo. Ava Neary and Aibhlinn Cotter were dominant at the centre of defence in the final quarter. Lily Anne O Meara finished off the game with 2 brilliant assists, the first to Suvi O Connor with a deserved goal and the final goal of the game was Celebrini’s second with a cool finish from the edge of the area.

A fantastic squad effort today with special mention to birthday girl Aibhlinn Cotter and Player of the Match, Saoirse Kent, who was outstanding today in the heart of midfield.

MU17

Our MU17s hosted Waterford FC in their final Group B league game in The Manor Fields in Adare with qualification for the Elite Phase still in the mix.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Conor Crofton, Kian Dempsey, Conor O’Mahony, Tadhg McElligott, Rory McKeon (C), Joe Murphy, Christian Stack, Alex Omoruyi, James Rochford, Warren O’Mahony, Joey Nwankwo

Subs:

Darragh Van Veen, Gavin Ryan, Mark O’Callaghan, Colin Healy, Xavier O’Nialagain, Timmy O’Sullivan

Our MU17s qualified for the Elite Phase of the League of Ireland MU17 league competition when they finished second in their Group by virtue of a 1-1 draw against Waterford. The Treaty boys knew that they needed to match Cobh Ramblers result in their game against Cork City to capture that Elite Phase spot.

We went into the game without our most effective midfielder, Gavin Ryan, who, unfortunately, twisted his ankle in the final training session before this game.

The players majorly worked on the same framework we built on away against Kerry last week but with key players missing. We took the lead in the first half when Christian Stack scored with an assist from James Rochford.

We had almost no bench to rely on for tactical changes and played a game that had its demands and eventually fatigue set in and we conceded a late equaliser. It didn’t matter, however, as word came through that Cork had scored twice late on to secure victory over Cobh.
