Academy Report 3rd-4th May 2025
All 6 of our Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy league action this weekend. We had 4 wins and 2 defeats across the 6 fixtures.
MU15
Our MU15s were first into action as they travelled to Lissywoolen to take on joint leaders Athlone Town.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Alex Clancy, Conor Kennedy, Danny Hammond, Jordan Brown, James Palache, Alex Meaney, Paddy Gubbins, Ben Doumbouya (C), Cathal Donnelly, Mark Regan, Wisdom Amaeze
Subs:
Mieszko Kurylonski, Gavin Scanlan, Mighty Odudu, Evan Hogan, Conor Brady, Kaylum Matha, Conor Campbell
The recent good run from our MU15s came to an end in Athlone on Saturday. Our recent successes came from training and playing in a very specific way. On Saturday, however, when confronted by a much more physical and aggressive side, we seemed to panic and didn’t play our natural game. We didn’t win our 1 v 1 battles and that was the key to Athlone winning the game.
The first half seemed to be heading to a scoreless conclusion until we conceded right before the interval. Athlone dominated the second half and scored twice late on to record a 4-0 victory. We will take lessons from the game and will work on them this week as we prepare to host the other joint leaders, Galway United, in the Manor Fields in Adare on Saturday afternoon.
WU17
Our WU17 hosted Waterford FC at the Manor Fields in Adare.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Ruby Linnane, Caila Neligan, Alex Sheehy, Kate Lee, Jennifer Hogan, Kristina Bokmane (C), Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Aoife Frawley, Ellen Goggin, Mioda O’Shea, Eleanor Blake
Subs:
Emma Jones, Ellen Hackett, Mylie Treacy, Aoibhe O’Leary, Eibhlin Butler, Mya Lee, Orlaith O’Connell

An awesome display from the Treaty WU17 team in a 3-0 win against a strong and talented Waterford team to get the Treaty girls back to winning ways and give themselves a great chance of making the elite phase of the WU17 League of Ireland.
Waterford came seeking revenge for a 2-0 defeat to Treaty earlier in the season and had super pace and strength across the pitch but Treaty knew they had to win today and their press and passing was outstanding throughout. Ellen Goggin in midfield was weaving her magic early in the game and came close with some long rangers while Aoife Frawley up front was a thorn in the side of the Waterford defence from start to finish. On 38 minutes the midfield pressure from Treaty paid off when a drive from captain Kristina Bokmane saw her slip a great through ball to Aoife who buried her left foot shot in the bottom corner to give the girls a well deserved lead. Unfortunately at this time Treaty lost the powerful Eleanor Blake with a bad injury from a tackle from the Waterford keeper and then her replacement Orlaith O’Connell went down with a bad wrist injury just before half time. Mya Lee stepped in from the bench as the whistle went for half time.
In the second half, Waterford pushed forward with the wind behind them but the Treaty defence of Caila Neligan, Jennifer Hogan, Kate Lee and Alex Sheehy were outstanding in both defending and breaking forward. One such break out saw the ball played through to Ellen Goggin in midfield and her ball to Aoife was perfectly timed to see Aoife bear in on goals but was upended by the Waterford keeper for a penalty. Ellen stepped up and cooly slotted home the spot kick on 53 minutes to give the Treaty girls a 2 goal lead.
Waterford never gave up and Treaty had to stay on their toes with Annabel Mulcaire Quille breaking up attack after attack and the wing play of Mioda O’Shea and Mya Lee keeping the ball in the Waterford half for long periods. On 66 minutes, the Frawley/Goggin combination worked again when Ellen’s cross from the left was deflected into Aoife’s path and she slotted home her second and Treaty’s 3rd. Again Waterford rallied and had a number of inswinging corners and 1v1 chances but all were stopped by the excellent Ruby Linnane in goals.
Treaty saw off any possible comeback and ran out deserved winners and have it all to play for in their final phase 1 game next weekend.
Special mention to Orlaith and Eleanor as we wish them both our best wishes to overcome the bad injuries they suffered in the first half. Thanks to the excellent support once again.
Our WU17s travel to Killeshin next Saturday to take on CK United in their final Group 1 stage.
MU20
Our MU20s travelled to Lissywoolen to take on Athlone Town in their League group game.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Conor Crofton, Seanie O’Haodha, Fintan McNamara, Matt Jones (C), Darren Nwankwo, Kaden Deegan Herlihy, Ian O’Sullivan, Roy Lawlor, Sean Costelloe, Scott Murphy, Kyle Foley
Subs:
Conor Wall, Cian Carmody, Michael Mulcahy, Brandon Long, Tiernan Adelu
Our MU20s beat Athlone 4-2 in a lively encounter in the midlands. Scott Murphy continued his scoring streak with a well taken goal. Murphy is now joint top scorer at U20s level in the country. Athlone battled hard and forced a penalty but Conor Crofton made an excellent save to keep Treaty in front. Darren Nwanko added a second from a corner shortly before the break. Kaeden Deegen Herlihy opened his account with a fine finish early in the second half. Athlone to their credit battled hard and pulled one back after sloppy defending. Tiernan Adelu scored Treaty’s 4th before Athlone got a late consolation goal. Sean Costelloe again stole the show with some breathtaking skill throughout and had a hand in three goals.
Next up is a home tie with Galway United on Saturday in the Manor Fields.
Sunday saw another three of our academy teams in action.
MU17
Our MU17s travelled to Mounthawk Park to take on Kerry FC.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Darragh Van Veen, Kian Dempsey, Conor O’Mahony, Tadhg McElligott, Rory McKeon (C), Joe Murphy, Christian Stack, Alex Omoruyi, James Rochford, Nathanael Mthembu, Gavin Ryan
Subs:
Conor Crofton, Daniel O’Connell, Mark O’Callaghan, Colin Healy, Joey Nwankwo
Our MU17s came away from Mounthawk with three crucial points with a 1-0 victory against Kerry FC.
We prepared during the week, adapting our tactics to a 4-4-2 Diamond where we press with four and overload with 4 in the middle to activate our full backs and it worked.
We were aggressive on the flanks and won plenty of corner kicks until we finally scored one via catain Rory McKeon.
We missed three 1v1 chances and hit the post in the second half as the team applied themselves well and kept good balance.
A good performance to build on for the visit of Waterford in a very important final Group game next Sunday in the Manor Fields.
MU14
Our MU14s returned to action when they travelled to Mounthawk Park to play Kerry FC.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Sean O’Carroll, Marco Lopez, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini, Yanis Mambouna, Gabriel Nseka, Liam McCague, Jack Bourke, Jack Sheehy, Sean Kelly (C), Adam Rochford
Subs:
Emmet O’Donnell, Dion Hannon, Harry Millan, Paddy O’Sullivan, Ciaran Irwin, Jude Cullen
Our MU14s suffered a 2 nil loss away in Mounthawk Park but the home side have their goalkeeper to thank for their victory. Treaty had some really impressive interplay between the forward players and produced save after save from the Kerry number 1 who was outstanding.
A setpiece in the final 20 minutes caused slight confusion to allow Kerry to take the lead and whilst playing out from the back in the 90th minute a misplaced pass allowed the home side to wrap up the win.
Players of the match were Adam Rochford and Liam McCague.
Our MU14s are next in action on Sunday, May 11th when they host Waterford in the Manor Fields in Adare.
WU19
Our WU19s travelled to the Carlisle Grounds to take on Bray Wanderers in their Group Phase game.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Chloe Widger, Kate Jones, Sadbh Griffin, Aibhlinn Cotter, Ava Neary (C), Jayne Ryan, Grace Ehinger, Amy Tierney, Ella Carey, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Sirena Celebrini
Subs:
Niamh Kinnehan, Rhiann Murphy, Emma Meaney, Molly Lane, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Abbey Walsh, Chloe Wallace, Saoirse Kent, Megan O’Reilly

The WU19s got back to winning ways today with a deserved 0-6 win in the stunning Carlisle Grounds in Bray.
Treaty got off to the perfect start and within 2 minutes went ahead when a perfect corner from Sadbh Griffin was met by the dynamic Amy Tierney who smashed the ball to the net.
Brays’ attempts at levelling the game were cooly dealt with by the fantastic Treaty defence of Kate Jones, Ava Neary, Aibhlinn Cotter and Sadbh Griffin while Chloe Widger in goal had another brilliant game keeping a deserved clean sheet.
Treaty added to their lead by the 15th minute with Lily Anne O Meara meeting a sweet pass from Grace Ehinger who had a hat trick of assists, O Meara weaved her way through the Bray defence to score her first of the game. With Ella Carey marshalling midfield, Sirena Celebrini was advancing more and more into the Bray half and got her rewards just before the break when she danced past her opponent to score a fantastic goal. Special mention to Sadbh Griffin for the assist as she had made a long run on the ball from her own half to supply the perfect pass!
Treaty started the second half exactly as they had finished the first, and their 4th goal came from the energetic Saoirse Kent, who made a huge impact after coming on at halftime. Kent met a corner taken by Ehinger, and her header gave the Bray goalkeeper no chance.
Treaty were creating numerous chances at this stage and could have added more through Suvi O Connor and Abbey Walsh, who both came close to scoring. In the 73rd minute, Abbey Walsh made sure of her shot and scored a great goal once again assisted by Ehinger. Walsh then turned the provider with only minutes left on the clock as her shot from a tight angle was only parried by the Bray goalkeeper. Lily Anne O Meara pounced on the free ball to blast the ball home for her 2nd and Treaty’s 6th goal of the day.
It was a huge squad effort today, with all 19 players taking to the pitch and playing a huge part in the win to keep Treaty second in the table.
Players of the Match were Grace Ehinger and Aibhlinn Cotter.
Our WU19s travel to Castlebar next Sunday to play Mayo FC in the first game in Group 2 of the WU19 Cup.
