Inspiring The Next Generation Of Footballers

Any aspiring young footballers are encouraged to get out to Markets Field this weekend to enjoy some men’s/women’s football. For the first time this season, Treaty United’s senior League of Ireland Men’s and Women’s teams are at home on the same weekend.  So, Limerick’s spiritual footballing home, the Markets Field, will see senior soccer action on consecutive days.

First up, it’s Tommy Barrett’s Senior Men’s team who host Athlone Town FC at 7.45PM on Friday night in an SSE Airtricity First Division league game. That’s followed on Saturday at 3PM when Sean Russell’s Senior Women’s Team will kick off their All Island Cup campaign when they host Waterford FC.

In association with Carelon Global Solutions, Match Day sponsors for this weekend’s fixtures, enjoy a 25% discount off ALL tickets (except Bundles) by getting your tickets at https://treatyunitedfc.com/tickets/ and use Discount Code TUFCYOUTH.

The Senior Men’s team will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing result on the road on Bank Holiday Monday when they went down to Wexford FC. Treaty meet Athlone Town for the second time this season and Tommy Barrett will be hoping for a repeat of their meeting earlier in the season which saw his side record a 5-0 victory in what has been their best performance of the season to date.

Sean Russell’s side will also be meeting with Waterford FC for the second time this season. That was in the opening game of the Women’s Premier Division season (Waterford’s first ever Senior Women’s game) and resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Treaty women. This time around, it is in the All Island Cup in a Group that also includes Athlone Town and Glentoran of the NIFL. A winning start would be a great stepping stone to qualifying for the knock-out stages for the second season running.

With both the Senior Men’s and Women’s sides in action, it is a great opportunity for young boys and girls across the region to come see what top flight football in the country looks like. As a club, Treaty United wants to promote equal opportunity for all boys and girls in the region and give them the chance to play top flight football for their local club.

In addition, as part of encouraging youth attendance at both games, the club are reminding the general public we are offering free tickets for clubs and schools across the region for groups. The following link can be used to express an interest in this offer. Get in early to avoid disappointment as tickets are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

So, get yourself down to the Markets Field this weekend and support your local senior soccer club and avail of this special offer to introduce the youth of the region to League of Ireland football and inspire the next generation of players and fans. You’d never know, it could be the start of a lifelong relationship.
