Academy Report 8-9 March
International News
Congratulations to Madison McGuane, Aibhlinn Cotter and Ciara Breslin who were part of the Republic of Ireland WU17 Squad who topped Group B5 of the UEFA WU17 European Championship qualifiers and qualified for the next round. First up, they defeated Lithuania 2-1 in Kaunas with Madison and Aibhlinn both playing the full 90 minutes while Ciara was on the bench. Ciara and Madison started the second game against the Faroe Islands with Aibhlinn on the bench and it didn’t take Ciara long to make her mark, getting on the scoresheet after 10 minutes as the WU17s ran out 6-4 winners to top their 3 team group

Congratulations also to MU20 captain, Matt Jones, who was called up for the FAI Schools squad who take on Wales in the Centenary Shield on Thursday, March 20.
All 6 of our 6 Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in EA Sports League of Ireland Academy league action this weekend.
MU20
Our MU20s finally got their League campaign underway when they made the trip to The Showgrounds to take on Sligo Rovers and they were the first academy team in action over the weekend.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Conor Wall, Cian Carmody, Matt Jones (C), Sean Costelloe, Ben Lee, Scott Murphy, CillianMulvihill, Fintan McNamara, Seanie O’Haodha, Kyle Foley, Roy Lawlor
Subs:
Michael Mulcahy, Brandon Long, Darragh VanVeen, Kaden Deegan Herlihy, Isaac O’Sullivan
Our MU20s got their first League game under their belt when they made the long trip to the Showgrounds to take on Sligo Rovers. Despite a great start, defeat was their lot as they went down 3-1 to their North Western hosts.
Treaty were fast out of the traps and took the lead in the third minute through Scott Murphy. Sligo equalised from the penalty spot in the 19th minute and took the lead in added time at the end of the first half. The home side wrapped up the points with their third mid-way through the second half.
Next up for the MU20s is a first home game of the season when they entertain Athlone Town in the Manor Fields on Saturday afternoon.
MU15
Our MU15s also travelled to The Showgrounds to take on Sligo Rovers as they continued their Group C league campaign.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Alex Clancy, Danny Hammond, James Palache, Alex Meaney, Conor Brady, MieszkoKurylonski, Paddy Gubbins, Mighty Odudu, Evan Hogan, Gavin Scanlan, Conor Kennedy
Subs:
Daniel O’Connell, Wisdom Amaeze, Jordan Brown, Kaylum Matha, Cathal Donnelly, Conor Campbell, Mark Regan, Ben Doumbouya

Our MU15s also feel to defeat against Sligo Rovers in their Group C league fixture. A single goal on the half hour for the home side separated the sides at the break.
Sligo extended their lead just after the resumption and further increased it on the hour mark. Treaty were given a lifeline when Conor Kennedy scored with over 20 minutes to play but Sligo wrapped up the points with a late strike.
The MU15s are next in action on Saturday when they host Athlone Town in the Markets Field.
WU17
Our WU17 continued their 2025 league campaign with a tough away game versus Kerry on Saturday last, March 8th and despite dominating much of the game they had to settle for a share of the spoils as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Ruby Linnane, Caila Neligan, Alex Sheehy, Jennifer Hogan, Aoibhe O’Leary, Orlaith O’Connell, Rachel O’Shea, Kristina Bokmane (C), Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Mioda O’Shea, EwelinaStankevituite
Subs:
Ellen Hackett, Aoife Frawley, Eleanor Blake, Mylie Treacy
Our WU17s put in a solid performance against a tough Kerry side to leave Tralee with a draw and a share of the points on Saturday last.
In yet another end to end game the Treaty girls were unlucky not to leave with a win after hitting the post 3 times & having a number of disallowed goals for some questionable offside decisions. However it was far from totally one-sided as Kerry definitely had their chances and Treaty needed their excellent goalkeeper Ruby Linnane on more than one occasion to ensure we didn’t lose the game.
Missing a few from injury Treaty gave a 1st start to a number of girls and the strength of the squad showed as we started with excellent pace and attacking play which threatened the Kerry goals early on. The Kerry keeper made some fine saves throughout the game which inspired her team mates around her and on 20 minutes, and against the run of play, the Kerry midfielder, M. Wolska latched on to a loose ball from 25 yards out and placed an excellent lob over Ruby in the Treaty goals to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
The Treaty girls responded superbly though and drove forward for an equaliser, which saw a Rachel O’Shea goal ruled out for offside, an Eleanor Blake rocket come crashing off the crossbar, an Aoibhe O’Leary header disallowed but eventually the pressure came when the talented Mylie Treacy, who had just came on for the injured vice-captain Annabel Mulcaire Quille, was first to a loose ball inside the Kerry box and she drove home for a deserved leveller. Treaty pressed for the lead now but were exposed at times at the back which saw Kerry get through on occasion with a number of close chances that were cleared by last-minute defending by the excellent Caila Neligan, Aoibhe & Jennifer Hogan in centre half and Alex Sheehy at full back which saw the 1st half end with the sides level at 1-1.
The 2nd half followed the same pattern with both sides having chances again. Ellen Hackett was introduced at full back for yet another injured Treaty player & she was straight into the fray stopping the Kerry side regularly. Ewelina Stankivicute saw an excellent shot hit the upright from long range and some good build up from the Treaty girls driven forward by their captain Kristina Bokmane in central midfield alongside Orlaith O’Connell and Mylie. But the Kerry keeper was in outstanding form and she definitely earned her side the draw with an amazing save in the last 5 minutes when a super break from Treaty down the right, saw Mioda O’Shea’s perfect cross meet Rachel O’Shea’s bullet header but somehow the Kerry keeper got her fingers to the ball to push it away. That brought an end to the game which was met with loud applause from the large watching crowd as yet again they were highly entertained by the great football on display from both sides.
Next up for the girls is another Munster derby when they meet Waterford away on Saturday, March 15th in Waterford, where the girls will look to get back to winning ways. Thanks to the injured Aoife Frawley, Kate Lee & Emma Jones for continuing to support her team mates and to the parents & large crowd who were very supportive on the day.
Sunday saw another three of our academy teams in action.
MU14
Our MU14s travelled to Mayfield to take on Cork City.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Seamus Greene, Marco Lopez, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini,Hugh Canty, Jude Cullen, YanisMambouna, Liam McCague, Jack Sheehy, Sean Kelly (C), Adam Rochford
Subs:
Emmet O’Donnell, Harry Millan, Gabriel Nseka, Paddy O’Sullivan, Ciaran Irwin, ConorBrowne, Dion Hannon, Jack Bourke, Sean O’Carroll,
Another solid gritty performance from the squad this time away to a fancied Cork City side, a 0-0 draw the outcome. There were plenty of Defensive Principals on show, some lovely passages of play throughout the game on a beautiful spring day.
We were unfortunate in the third period that our attacking play did not result in a goal on multiple occasions .
Players of the match ere goalkeeper, Seamus Greene and centre backs Sean Kelly and Liam McCague.
We welcome Kerry FC next Sunday in The Manor Fields in Adare as we continue our league campaign.
WU19
Our WU19s hosted Cork City in The Manor Fields in Adare in their second league game.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Chloe Widger, Megan O’Reilly, Sadbh Griffin, Ella Carey, Ava Neary (C), Emma Meaney, Jayne Ryan, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Suvi O’Connor, Sirena Celebrini, Amy Tierney
Subs:
Niamh Kinehan, Kate Jones, Abbey Walsh, Molly Lane, Chloe Wallace, Saoirse Kent, EibhlinButler

Our WU19s dominated much of the play in this Munster derby enjoying long periods of possession with Amy Tierney and Ella Carey nullifying any Cork attacks from their midfield positions.
We were defensively solid from the start of the game and throughout against a very fancied Cork attack line. Ava Neary and Emma Meaney kept a calm presence in the back with Sadbh Griffin & Megan O Reilly enjoying plenty of link up play with wingers Sirena Celebrini and Jayne Ryan who were causing all sorts of problems for the Cork fullbacks.
After halftime, Cork enjoyed a spell of attacking play but Chloe Widger in the Treaty goal was calm when called upon and had only 1 big save to make in the game.
Lily Anne O Meara and Suvi O Connor were tremendous in the attack and unlucky not to have got the breakthrough goal only for an in form Cork goalkeeper to stop them.
Treaty introduced fresh legs with the returning Saoirse Kent and Chloe Wallace from injury which provides a fantastic boost to the squad. The introduction of Abbey Walsh and Molly Lane in the final quarter rounded off an excellent football match and a deserved clean sheet for the home side ahead of next week’s trip to Dublin to take on DLR Waves.
MU17
Our MU17s were looking to continue their good start to the season when they travelled to Bishopstown to take on Cork City .
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Conor Crofton, Joey Nwankwo, Conor O’Mahony, Kian Dempsey, Tadhg McElligott, James Rochford, Mark O’Callaghan, Gavin Ryan (C), Colin Healy, Alex Omoruyi, Nathanael Mthembu
Subs:
Darragh Van Veen, Rory McKeon, Joe Murphy, Sean Meere, Timmy O’Sullivan, ChristianStack, Warren O’Mahony, Xavier O’Nialagain
Our MU17s were defeated by league leaders, Cork City, at the Bishopstown complex on Sunday afternoon. The home side took an early lead in this game but Treaty were back on level terms on the half hour mark when Nathanael Mthembu grabbed an equaliser, assisted by captain Gavin Ryan. However, the home side immediately regained the lead and added another before the break.
The home side took control after the break to run out comfortable winners.
Our MU17s continue their league campaign next Sunday when they at home to Kerry FC in the Manor Fields in Adare.
