Kate Jones Re-Signs
Treaty United are delighted to announce that Kate Jones has re-signed for the club and has made the step up to the Senior Women’s team.
The Clare native becomes the latest Treaty United Carelon Academy player to make the move up to the senior team ahead of the new SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division season kicking off on March 8th.
A former schoolgirl at Bunratty Cratloe FC, Kate made the move to Treaty United in the summer of 2023 when she joined the WU17 side. Capable at full-back and in midfield, Kate would go on to be an important part of that Treaty side as they claimed the Shield that November with a 1-0 win over Cork City at a packed Markets Field.
Kate was a big part of the WU17 side in 2024 also as they reached the Tier One stage and the Academy Cup quarter-final. Kate’s performances at academy level didn’t go unnoticed as she was called up to the Senior Women’s squad for the first time last July at home to Wexford FC
Kate boasts great international pedigree having been capped for Ireland at U15, U16 and U17 level. The Clare native comes from a family steeped in Treaty United with her sister Emma (WU19) and brother Matt (MU20 captain) both playing for the club too.
Speaking to TreatyUnitedFC.com, Sean Russell had high praise for the teenager:
“Kate is a very versatile intelligent footballer. She plays with great maturity for such a young age. She possesses a lot of energy and is technically very comfortable in possession.”
