Club Statement

Treaty United Football Club is urging supporters to refrain from using pyrotechnics during the 2025 season.

Fans will be aware from ongoing announcements and engagement with our support base that the use of flares, smoke bombs and all types of pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited at Markets Field and all other League of Ireland stadiums.

As a club, we are working hard to promote a family friendly environment for all to enjoy and will be adopting a zero-tolerance approach to anyone found with or using pyrotechnics at Treaty United fixtures/events.

As well as the safety risks it poses to those using, and in the vicinity of pyro, it brings its own troubles for the club to manage. We have already incurred significant fines over the last two games because of multiple incidents of flare usage. It is a loss of revenue that could be invested into our teams and club.

If this behaviour continues, clubs potentially face stadium and/or stand closures – this is unfair for the club, players and fans who deserve to enjoy matches in a safe environment.

Treaty United have increased security and surveillance at Markets Field. Anyone identified partaking in such behaviour in any capacity will face an indefinite ban from home and away matches. This includes any adult who is overseeing a child involved in flare usage.

Sanctions like these are not something the club wants to be issuing but will act on it when required. Ideally, the club would like to focus its time and resources on our team’s success on the field. We encourage all of our fans to be considerate and provide a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for all to enjoy.
