Evan O’Connor Re-Signs

Treaty United are delighted to announce that Evan O’Connor has re-signed for the club ahead of the 2025 season.

The 24-year-old enters his second season with the club.

A Leitrim native, O’Connor plied his trade at underage level with both Longford Town and Athlone Town as well as making a handful of senior appearances for both sides. He spent two seasons with Galway United and made 19 appearances, helping them to win the First Division in 2023.

He made his debut for Treaty United in a 1-0 away victory against UCD in late February. The defender played a key role in Treaty’s impressive record of 13 clean sheets last season, featuring in 35 matches and scoring vital goals in home games against Kerry FC and UCD.

Evan spoke to TreatyUnitedFC.com and is looking forward to further developing his game and working to push the club up the table:

“I’m delighted to be back for another year. I played a good chunk of games last season so I’m personally looking to kick on. Hopefully we can have a strong year and really assert ourselves in those playoff positions.”

Manager Tommy Barrett also spoke to TreatyUnitedFC.com and was happy to have Evan signed up for 2025 and will be looking for the defender to move up another gear in 2025:

“Evan came to us last year having been training full-time with Galway and did really well. We’ve used him as a centre-back, but he can operate at right-back too. We’re looking forward to him kicking on next year as we feel he can be a real leader in the group as he has a really good attitude and is a good lad too. I’m looking forward to working with him more in 2025.”
