The Teams

Treaty United

Treaty United advanced to this stage of the competition thanks to a penalty shootout win over Leinster Senior League outfit Kilbarrack United. It wasn’t the greatest of performances from Treaty on the night, but they did enough to advance which would have been of the utmost importance to Tommy Barrett.

Since then Treaty have won two and drawn once in their last three games and have put in some impressive performances to boot.

Fionn Doherty is likely to miss this one due to suspension, but the debut of new signing Jack Kavanagh on Saturday (who got further minutes in the tank for the club’s MU20 side on Tuesday night) means that he could very well slot into that left-back role and make a full debut on Friday.

Pike Rovers

Limerick District League Premier Division side Pike Rovers reached this stage of the competition thanks to home victories in the first two rounds of the competition. Pike played out a 1-1 draw with Waterford-based Villa FC after 120 minutes before eventually prevailing on penalties to advance past the first round. The second round saw The Hoops host Munster Senior League champions Midleton FC on a 3-1 scoreline in Crossagalla.

Pike will have one eye on their season opener next Thursday but will undoubtedly do their utmost to turnover their Limerick rivals in the FAI Cup first. They have lost some strong players including Shane Clarke, Steven Bradley and Danny O’Neill but have added the talented Eoin Duff as well as Conor Keane from Ballynanty Rovers.
