The Teams

Treaty United

Treaty United sit in eighth position on 29 points, five points off the playoff spots. Treaty came oh-so-close to defeating champions elect Cork City but for a Charlie Lyons strike at the death which cancelled out Mark Byrne’s second half opener. It was an overall good performance from Treaty who will undoubtedly be kicking themselves that they let three points evade them late on and not for the first time either.

The result still extends Treaty to four games without a loss in all competitions and moved them one point closer to those playoff spots, and Tommy Barrett will look to move his side closer to the top half against a side that Treaty have had good success against.

Longford Town

Sitting in tenth place with 17 points, the centenary year of Longford Town has been one to forget for all involved in the Midlands club. Longford have lost four games in a row in all competitions with an aggregate score of 2-13 and have won just once since turning Treaty United over in Bishopsgate in the middle of May.

They have added in the Summer window but the loss of former Treaty United goalkeeper Jack Brady, who had been outstanding for Longford, has set them back. One thing that has stood to Longford of late is their home record which has seen them record just one loss from their last six.

Previous Encounters

Treaty United have had much the better of the meetings between these sides but fell to defeat on their last trip to Bishopsgate as a Mark Byrne diving header was soon cancelled out by Ross Fay before Dean O’Shea gave Longford the three points.
