The Teams
Treaty United
Treaty United sit in eighth position and seven points off the playoff spots, once again losing no ground on fifth place despite last Friday’s loss, but moving no closer either. Treaty will rightfully feel hard done by leaving the Markets Field empty-handed last Friday as a Jack Larkin strike gave Cobh Ramblers all three points. Treaty dominated in terms of possession and chances but failed to make it count on the scoreboard.
New signings Steven Healy and Trpimir Vrljičak were involved in Friday’s game which gave manager Tommy Barrett some greater depth to his bench, while the return of Darren Nwankwo to the bench was another welcome boost. Lee J Lynch should make the squad for Friday’s trip to UCD, but it remains to be seen if captain Mark Walsh will return for the clash.
UCD
UCD sit in third place in the First Division, 16 points behind leaders Cork City but just seven points ahead of sixth place. The students are going through somewhat of a sticky patch of late with one win, six draws and one loss in their last eight games.
The Students’ home form is something that has held them back this season with four of their five defeats this season coming at the UCD Bowl. They have picked up three wins at home this season with two of those being by the narrowest of margins.
Ciaran Behan has been a danger man for UCD with seven goals and five assists in 20 appearances for the Students. He was left on the bench when the sides met in April but has been in good form of late with one goal and two assists in two games.
Previous Encounters
It is four wins each for these two sides who have yet to play out a draw. UCD were convincing winners when the sides last met at the Markets Field but Treaty have won in both of their last two trips to the UCD Bowl.
