Treaty United
Tommy Barrett’s men earned their first win in 15 league games last Friday night courtesy of an 82nd minute close range finish from Mark Byrne against Longford Town.
This followed two creditable draws in Cork against Cobh Ramblers and Cork City.
However, it was back to earth with a bang on Monday as the Limerick side fell to a 2-1 defeat to Kerry.
Bray Wanderers
The Seagulls have been on a decent run of form following a 3-1 defeat to league leaders Cork City. They have beaten Wexford and Cobh and drew with UCD since.
They sit fifth in the division and will be looking to keep Wexford, two points behind them, at arm’s length as they seek a play-off spot.
Past Meetings
These clubs are quite familiar with each other.
Treaty failed to beat the Seagulls at home last season. A 1-0 defeat to a late Ben Feeney goal in February last year was a particularly disappointing result.
The sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their last encounter earlier this season.
Treaty’s fastest ever goal in a competitive game came from a Mark Walsh header in the second minute. When Thomas Considine doubled the lead on 40 minutes it may have appeared that the Limerick side were cruising. However, in truth, Bray Wanderers were proving stubborn opponents and they began to dominate proceedings in the second half. The Seagulls got their reward through a debatable penalty converted by Shane Griffin on 72 minutes. Ten minutes later they equalised.
But for an injury time Corey Chambers save they may have left Limerick with all three points.
Bray took all three points in a 2-1 win in April at the Carlisle Grounds.
Twelve league ties between the sides have yielded four wins for Treaty to Bray’s three.
Treaty’s first ever competitive game in men’s senior soccer was played against Bray.
