Treaty United
Tommy Barrett’s side continued their great form and came through a top-of-the-table clash with league leaders Cork City with much credit in the bank last week.
Solid at the back and posing a threat up front, Treaty went toe to toe with City at a packed Markets Field in an entertaining 0-0 draw.
Corey Chambers did very well to tip an Evan McLaughlin shot over the bar in the first half but Treaty restricted the visitors to few attempts on goal.
The Limerick side almost nicked it at the death with Stephen Christopher through on goal, he hit the side netting.
The night ended on a sour note with Lee Devitt shown a very debatable red card for a challenge on Harry Nevin in which he appeared to win the ball cleanly and clearly. Referee Oliver Moran incensed the home crowd with his decision.
Devitt will now miss the next two games.
Darren Nwankwo, Callum McNamara and Colin Conroy all remain on the sidelines for Treaty due to injury.
Finn Harps
Darren Murphy’s Harps squad will be relatively happy with their start to the season, their only loss coming in a trip to Turners Cross where they faced Cobh Ramblers.
However, they will be frustrated following their last game, they played out a 0-0 home draw against winless Kerry.
Familiar face
Success Edogun was a fan favourite in his time at Treaty United scoring some memorable goals.
He has carried that form with him to Donegal, netting three goals already this term for Harps.
Past meetings
The clubs have only met four times in league competition, a 2-0 defeat for Treaty in Ballybofey, with goals from Ryan Rainey and Filip Fjeldheim Da Silva, deciding the game and a 3-0 win for Finn Harps at the Markets Field back in May marked the first two meetings between the clubs in 2023.
Treaty avenged those two early season defeats with a 1-0 in Donegal in August through a Dean George goal.
This was followed by a 2-0 home win for the Limerick side in October. A Marc Ludden penalty was followed by another goal from George to seal the victory.
It stands at two wins a piece.
