Treaty United
Treaty went to the top of the league for the first time in club’s history last Friday night with a convincing 1-0 win over UCD. A missed penalty by Enda Curran was made up for when the veteran striker pounced on uncertainty in the UCD defence to seal a very impressive win on the road.
It was a dream start to the season at a packed Markets Field a week earlier as a Treaty United side missing several key players beat Cobh Ramblers 3-1.
KERRY FC
The Tralee-based side will be cursing their luck after a topsy-turvy game against Bray Wanderers, that was interrupted by a hail shower, swung in favour of the Seagulls after Kerry had taken the lead despite having Nathan Gleeson sent off.
A late rally by Bray saw them run out 3-2 winners to deny Kerry a precious and rare win.
Past Meetings
This will be just the fifth league fixture between the sides.
A keenly contested 1-1 draw in Tralee marked the first meeting between the clubs.
A dominant 4-0 victory for Treaty was the result as Kerry made their first trip to the Markets Field in April of 2023.
Goals from Marc Ludden, Dean George and Enda Curran sealed the points in Treaty’s first ever win at Mounthawk Park in the next encounter – a 3-2 win.
Treaty recorded a straight-forward 3-1 home win in August of last year.
Familiar Faces
Matt Keane was a stalwart for Treaty in the club’s first two seasons in men’s senior football. He was appointed captain upon signing for Kerry in 2023 but has now returned to Killarney Celtic
Martin Coughlan made the move to Tralee last season after finding first-team chances limited in Limerick. He has since left the club.
Current Kerry defender Andy Spain represented Treaty last season.
