Treaty United

Tommy Barrett’s side have been improving in recent weeks and more rewards were reaped at the Markets Field on Friday night after goals from Yoyo Mahdy and Robbie Lynch secured a 2-0 win over Bray Wanderers.

This came off the back of impressive draws away to Cobh and Cork and a 1-0 victory over Longford.

The only blip in the last five games was a disappointing away loss to Kerry.

Wexford

Patchy recent form sees Wexford in 6th place but they have a game in hand on Bray, two points above them.

Following a 2-0 win over Kerry in May, they have gone three games without a win.

Past Meetings

Treaty didn’t manage a win against Wexford in four fixtures last season. This season hasn’t seen that record improve.

The final of those games last season saw Treaty 1-0 up through a Ben O’Riordan goal but a sending off for Lee Devitt saw the match turn on its head. Danny Furlong equalised and Kian Corbally grabbed the winner in the 79th minute.

Treaty’s most notable win over Wexford was a 5-1 victory on a very windy February night in 2022. Goals from Callum McNamara, Joel Coustrain, Joe Gorman and Enda Curran with a double gave Treaty the win.

Finding themselves 2-0 down at Wexford inApril of this season, the Limerick side battled their way back into the game with a stunning free kick from Yoyo Mahdy followed up with another clever finish by the striker that had Treaty level on 84 minutes.

Heartbreak followed jubilation though as Cian Curtis popped up with a winner for Wexford in the 89th minute.

More late drama followed in the return fixture. Treaty thought the win had been secured via a Mark Byrne goal on 86 minutes to put the home side 2-1 up. Kaylem Hartnett grabbed an equaliser six minutes into injury time to heap more misery on Treaty.
