The Teams

Treaty United

Treaty United sit in eighth position and six points off the playoff spots thanks to a recent run of good form that has seen them win two games in a row.

Those victories over Bray Wanderers and Wexford FC were much needed and have given Tommy Barrett’s side some momentum for the second half of the season.

In terms of team news, Enda Curran and Robbie Lynch are both serving the final game of their suspension on Friday and so will miss out on the game. Willie Armshaw will also be unavailable having departed the club during the mid-season break.

Athlone Town

Athlone Town sit in fourth place and are without a win in their last two league games. Since beating champions-elect Cork City, the Midlanders have been unlucky to share the spoils away to Finn Harps and were undone by a first-half penalty away to Bray Wanderers most recently.

They will be hopeful of returning to winning ways on Friday considering their previous results against Treaty, as well as the fact that the game takes place at their home ground in Lissywollen where they have not lost in their last 11 League of Ireland games. Their last home defeat came in October of last year against Bray Wanderers.

Previous Encounters

Treaty United boast a good record against Athlone Town but it is the Midlanders who have had the bragging rights this season with two narrow victories. Athlone have picked up a result on four of the six occasions that the sides have met in Lissywollen.

Treaty Wins – 7

Draws – 3

Athlone Wins – 3
