The Teams

Treaty United

After the disappointment of a first loss of the season away to Bohemians, Treaty United bounced back in empathic fashion with a 3-0 win away to Cork City in front of the TG4 cameras – the club’s biggest ever win at Senior Women’s level.

Considering the form of Cork City coming into the game it was a statement win for Treaty United, but manager Dominic Foley will know that tougher challenges lie ahead, starting with this Saturday’s clash with the reigning champions.

Laura O’Neill and Jillian O’Toole both face some time on the sidelines recovering from injury, while Caleigh Boeckx may return to the side on Saturday having missed last week’s game.

Peamount United

The reigning champions face a stiff challenge to retain their title with Galway United, Shelbourne and Athlone Town all occupying the top three spots at present.

James O’Callaghan’s side have had a decent start to the season with three wins and one draw from six games, however, their losses to Shelbourne and Athlone Town will undoubtedly hurt. A draw and a win against Galway United and Shamrock Rovers in their last two games have boosted their chances but they still trail United by six points. The pressure will be on the South Dublin side to pick up three points against a side they’ve had great joy over since their first

Peamount have been hampered by the absence of 2023 Women’s Premier Division Player of the Year Sadhbh Doyle whose only contribution this year has been a cameo appearance against Wexford FC.

Previous Encounters

Peamount United were the first side that Treaty United faced at senior level back in 2020, and the Peas have won all eleven encounters between the sides since then.

The sides met on three occasions last year with all three seeing Treaty lose out by the narrowest of margins. The second of their three meetings saw the sides clash at the Markets Field in FAI Cup action where an extra-time goal from Erin McLaughlin saw the Peas advance.
