Treaty United
Tommy Barrett’s side are well in contention for the play-off spots despite some difficult games in recent weeks.
Last week they played out a 0-0 draw in a Munster derby.
After hitting the woodwork just after kick off, Treaty United never got off the starting blocks in a frustrating game against Kerry at the Markets Field.
The Tralee-based side had more of the clear-cut chances, and, but for a wonderful double save from Corey Chambers on 80 minutes, first from Cian Brosnan and then from Daniel Okwute, may have built on their 3-0 against Longford the week before and taken another three points.
Bray Wanderers
The Seagulls have scored six without reply in their last two outings, both 3-0 wins over Athlone Town and Longford.
They are level on points with Treaty and sit in fifth place but have played a game more.
Ian Ryan’s side’s form has been patchy so far this season but they look like they will make a strong play-off push. Three points for Treaty in Wicklow would be a boon entering the second quarter of fixtures.
Past Meetings
The sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their last encounter earlier this season.
Treaty’s fastest ever goal in a competitive game came from a Mark Walsh header in the second minute. When Thomas Considine doubled the lead on 40 minutes it may have appeared that the Limerick side were cruising. However, in truth, Bray Wanderers were proving stubborn opponents and they began to dominate proceedings in the second half. The Seagulls got their reward through a debatable penalty converted by Shane Griffin on 72 minutes. Ten minutes later they equalised.
But for an injury time Corey Chambers save they may have left Limerick with all three points.
Twelve league ties between the sides have yielded four wins for Treaty to Bray’s two.
Last time out at the Carlisle Grounds, Treaty salvaged a late draw with a Walsh (That man again!) goal in the 94th minute.
However, Treaty failed to beat the Seagulls at home last season. A 1-0 defeat to a late Ben Feeney goal in February last year was a particularly disappointing result.
