Treaty United

Following three wins from three games, Treaty might be forgiven for letting a two-goal lead slip at home to Bray Wanderers at the Markets Field last week with 10 points from four games a very respectable return.

While it was indeed a frustrating night on the pitch, there was little sign of disappointment among the departing crowd of over 2,100 as they left the ground content enough with Tommy Barrett’s side’s start to the season.

Treaty’s fastest ever goal in a competitive game came from a Mark Walsh header in the second minute. When Thomas Considine doubled the lead on 40 minutes it may have appeared that the Limerick side were cruising. However, in truth, Bray Wanderers were proving stubborn opponents and they began to dominate proceedings in the second half. The Seagulls got their reward through a debatable penalty converted by Shane Griffin on 72 minutes. Ten minutes later Shane Griffin equalised.

But for an injury time Corey Chambers save they may have left Limerick with all three points. All in all, a good point for Treaty that may prove a vital one later in the season.

Enda Curran and Colin Conroy are doubts for the trip to Bishopsgate.

Robbie Lynch is back in the fold following international schools duty.

Longford Town

The midlanders have endured a difficult start to the season with two losses and two postponed games.

They hosted Cork City last Saturday night and succumbed to a 2-0 loss, their first league game since February 17 when they lost 3-2 at home to Finn Harps.

Familiar faces

Jack Brady served Treaty with distinction in the 2022 season and Dean George was a fan favourite and hard-working forward from the club’s first senior men’s season until last winter when he decided to move closer to home.

Defender Dean O’Shea spent less than six months at Treaty last year. Bastien Hery played for Limerick FC in 2017.

Past Meetings

Treaty had the better of the exchanges last season scoring 11 goals in the four games and winning nine points from 12.

These sides do like a 3-2 scoreline when they meet, it occurred in three of the four encounters between the teams in 2023.
