Treaty United Senior Men’s captain Marc Ludden has announced his retirement from football.
The Galway native departs from the League of Ireland scene after an incredible 14 seasons and over 400 games.
Marc was a member of the original 26-man Treaty United Senior Men’s squad in 2021. He made his debut in the club’s first competitive Senior Men’s game on March 28th of that same year as Treaty picked up a first ever point away to Bray Wanderers.
Over the club’s first three seasons at Senior Men’s level Marc became an integral part of the side, being almost ever-present for the club throughout. His performances in 2021 saw him deservedly named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year as Treaty United reached the promotion playoffs.
2022 saw Treaty go one better as they reached the promotion playoffs once more along with an FAI Cup Semi-Final appearance, with Marc playing a starring role throughout.
While Marc frequently captained the side in the absence of then captain Jack Lynch, Marc was officially made captain ahead of the 2023 season and led by example on each occasion.
Marc departs Treaty United having made 94 appearances, of which 93 were starts, along with 12 goals and 25 assists. He is the leading appearance holder and assist maker across both of the club’s senior sides.
Marc’s brilliant performances along with his leadership and dedication both on and off the pitch saw him become adored by all Treaty United fans.
