Evan O’Connor Signs

Treaty United are delighted to announce the signing of Evan O’Connor for the 2024 season.

The Leitrim native joins the club having spent the last two seasons with Galway United where he made close to twenty appearances with the Tribesmen.

A centre back by trade, O’Connor plied his trade at underage level on the national stage with Longford Town for whom he made his senior debut for in 2018. After two seasons with Longford, Evan recorded further senior appearances with 2020 FAI Cup semi-finalists Athlone Town along with a short spell with Limerick District League side Regional United.

Having been a part of Galway United’s 2023 First Division winning squad, Evan joins Treaty looking to use some of his experience to make an impact and cement himself as a mainstay in the side’s defence.

Speaking to TreatyUnitedFC.com, Senior Men’s manager Tommy Barrett was happy to have made another addition to his squad for the new season:

“I think Evan will be a good signing, he’s been full-time for the last two years with Galway. He can play right back or centre back which adds to our defensive options and is a big boost after the loss of Andy Spain to Kerry, who we send our best wishes. He’s a big, strong, physical lad and has got good ability too. He’ll be training two nights a week with us and, thanks to an arrangement with Galway United, will be doing a bit with them during the week as he’s based up there, so he’ll be practically still training full-time which is great.”
