Treaty United

Play-off hopes were severely dented for Treaty United following a controversial defeat at home to Wexford last Friday night. A Ben O’Riordan goal just before half-time put Treaty in a commanding position until Lee Devitt gave away a penalty on 53 minutes for a clumsy challenge on Corban Piper who was about to get a shot off on the Treaty goal. However, the home crowd was enraged when Devitt was then also dismissed for the challenge.

Corey Chambers saved the penalty but the momentum had swung toward Wexford and they capitalised on their numerical advantage when Danny Furlong headed in a rebound from close range after Chambers had saved from a corner kick. More set piece woes for Treaty.

The game was won on 79 minutes as Kian Corbally found the net after Chambers parried a cross straight into his path.

A disappointing night coming just a week after a 96th minute goal from Cobh consigned Treaty to a defeat in Cork.

The results leave play-off hopes hanging by a thread. A resurgence is not out of the question but a win in Bray is now a must.

Enda Curran (knee) and Sean Guerins (head injury) are doubts for the away side.

Jordon Tallon remains out injured. Lee Devitt is suspended

Bray Wanderers

The Seagulls sit just one point ahead of Treaty in the table.

They lost to the top two in recent weeks but picked up a much-needed 3-1 win away at Kerry in between.

Ian Ryan’s side will be desperate to deliver the twin punch of winning to keep them in the promotion mix and also practically ending Treaty’s chances of getting there.

Past Meetings

Treaty United’s first ever competitive senior men’s game was a hard-fought 0-0 draw with

10-men against Bray at the Carlisle Grounds in 2021.

Ten league ties between the sides have yielded four wins for Treaty to Bray’s two.

Last time out at the Carlisle Grounds, Treaty came away from Bray with three points and three goals, a Curran penalty being followed up by two late on from Willie Armshaw.

The sides shared the points at the Markets Field in June, playing out a 1-1 draw.
