The Teams

Treaty United

9th placed Treaty United came oh-so-close to picking up their second win of the season but had to settle for a point at home to Wexford Youths last Saturday. Treaty took the lead through Hailey Walsh early in the first period, but Wexford struck level with 14 minutes remaining. Treaty looked like they would take all three points when Cara Griffin gave them the lead once more in the 85th minute but a strike at the death from Emily Corbet meant the points were shared.

It marks the first time Treaty have ever recorded a result against the team from the South East which is a huge sign of progress, but manager Alban Hysa will be disappointed to not have taken more from the game.

Hailey Walsh opened her account for Treaty United on Friday and will be keen to keep her vein of good form going on Saturday, while an inspired display from Anne Marie Ulliac played a huge role in Treaty recording a result on Saturday last.

Athlone Town

6th placed Athlone Town suffered their third consecutive loss last Saturday when they fell to a 3-2 defeat against Bohemians live on TG4. Athlone battled back from two goals down and drew level on 90+3’ only to concede straight away after a miscommunication at the back.

They have found it difficult to emulate their fairy-tale 2022 season but will see this Saturday’s game as a way to get back to winning ways.

Maddie Gibson grabbed her fifth goal of the season against Bohs and has been a revelation for the Midlanders since joining their ranks, while Treaty fans will be familiar with the threat of Gillian Keenan.
