MU15

First into action at the weekend were our MU15s, fresh from their trip to Villarreal CF, and they hosted Wexford FC in a league game in Hogan Park.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Alex Clancy, Conor Kennedy, James Palache, Alex Meaney, Conor Brady, Kaylum Matha, Paddy Gubbins, Mighty Odudu, Mark Regan (C), Wisdom Amaeze, Gavin Scanlan

Subs:

Emmet O’Donnell, Jordan Brown, Ben Doumbouya, Evan Hogan, Cathal Donnelly, Mieszko Kurylonski

Our MU15s showed no sign of tiredness from their Spanish trip when they recorded a victory over Wexford FC in Hogan Park. It took us a while to get to grips with the direct and physical approach from the visitors. Indeed, it was Wexford FC who took the lead in the game on the half hour mark and they took that lead into the half time interval.

We stuck to our footballing principles and our system and it allowed us to control the second half. Paddy Gubbins grabbed our equaliser when he was set up by Mieszko Kurylonski. We took the lead with 10 minutes left on the clock through Alex Meaney and we wrapped up the points late on thanks to Conor Kennedy with an assist from Kaylum Matha.

Our MU15s are in the road next weekend as they travel to Mounthawk Park to take on Kerry FC hoping to repeat the result when the sides met previously in Hogan Park.

MU20

Our MU20s travelled to Mounthawk Park to take on Kerry FC in a league game.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Dylan Ashman, Matt Jones (C), Ben Lee, Fintan McNamara, Michael MacSweeney, Roy Lawlor, Fintan O’Kelly, Scott Murphy, Brandon Long, Michael Mulcahy, Kayden Deegan Herlihy

Subs:

Sean Costelloe, Jack Dunleavy, Gavin Ryan, Tiernan Adelu

Our MU20s delivered a very poor performance when going down to Kerry FC in Mounthawk Park. Kerry took the lead in the 5th minute but captain, Matt Jones, got us back on level terms on the half hour mark. Seven minutes before the interval we conceded a very sloppy goal to allow the home side to regain the lead.

We never got going in the second half and never really threatened to get back into the game allowing Kerry FC to run out winners on the day.

Next up is a trip to the Roadstone Complex in Dublin to play Shamrock Rovers.

MU14

Our MU14s hosted Bray Wanderers in a league game in Hogan Park.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Seamus Greene, Marco Lopez, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini, Ciaran Irwin, Sean Kelly (C), Jack Sheehy, Morgan Barrett, Liam McCague, Adam Rochford, Dion Hannon

Subs:

Emmet O’Donnell, Jude Cullen, Yanis Mambouna, Hugh Canty, Sean O’Carroll, Gabriel Nseka, Paddy O’Sullivan, Jack Bourke, Precieux Malonga

For the second time this season our MU14s struggled with a physical Bray Wanderers team. We played lots of good football in this game but Bray were physically dominant and very direct and this cost us in the game especially in set pieces while we also struggled with their direct approach in transition when we lost possession.

Player of the match was Adam Rochford.

Next up for our MU14s is a trip to Thomastown United’s grounds to take on CK United.

WU19

Our WU19s hosted Wexford FC in the Manor Fields in Adare in a league game.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Chloe Widger, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Lily-Anne O’Meara, Emma Meaney, Abbey Walsh, Jayne Ryan, Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Ellen Goggin, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Sirena Celebrini

Ruby Linnane, Grace Ehinger, Ella Carey, Kristina Bokmane, Kate Lee, Rachel O’Shea, Ewelina Stankeviciute

In a game where our WU19s dominated the football and twice took the lead, Treaty will feel they left this one behind when a last minute goal gave the visitors the 3 points.

Treaty took the lead with only 7 minutes played when a perfect corner kick from Sadbh Griffin was met by the lively Lily Anne O Meara who reacted first to head the ball to the roof of the net.

Wexford levelled the game on 20 minutes when they broke through to beat Chloe Widger in the Treaty goal.

Treaty continued their attacking style of play and were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal when Suvi O Connor was fouled. Ellen Goggin, fresh from WU17 International Training this week, stepped up to take the set piece. Goggin hit the kick perfectly and the ball found its way under the crossbar for Treaty to regain the lead up to halftime.

Wexford’s long ball game was a constant threat and, on the hour, they found the back of the net to level the score.

It was looking like the game would end with a share of the spoils even though the brilliant Sirena Celebrini, Rachel O Shea and Jayne Ryan all went close to scoring for the home team. However, a would-be cross from Wexford found its way into the far corner to give them the lead and too much for the home side to do with little time left.

A disappointing result but credit to the squad for their attitude and commitment to their footballing style.

Players of the Match were Sirena Celebrini and Ellen Goggin.
