A busy weekend for our teams. Our MU15s played their first ever game in the Markets Field prior to their departure to Villarreal CF this week. Meanwhile, our MU17s were one of just 8 LOI teams who took part in a Cross Border Academy Development Weekend. Elsewhere, our MU20s, WU19s and WU17s had games in their respective league campaigns.

WU17

First into action at the weekend were our WU17s who travelled to Mayfield to play Cork City in the Elite Phase of their league.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Emma Jones, Ciara Austin, Jennifer Hogan, Kate Lee (C), Alex Sheehy, Aoibhe O’Leary, Grace Geary, Orlaith O’Connell, Honor Mulvihill, Eleanor Blake, Kristina Bokmane

Subs:

Eibhlin Butler, Rachel O’Shea, Aoife Frawley, Mylie Treacy, Ellen Hackett, Mya Lee, Mioda O’Shea

Our WU17s finally got on the points table today after a hard fought 2-2 draw away to a talented Cork City team in Mayfield. While it’s great to get an away result against such tough opposition, the girls, coaches and parents all felt disappointed that it wasn’t the win they so richly deserved with 2 goals disallowed for offside in the first half when the recording clearly shows they were both firmly onside.

But credit to the girls who got on with their job and even more credit to them for coming back from an early goal on 9 minutes to equalize through a rocket of a penalty from Eleanor Blake on 23 minutes. Grace Geary yet again hit a sublime free kick off the crossbar and Orlaith O’Connell buried the equalizer only to see the ref unbelievably blow for offside. Just before halftime, an excellent Kate Lee free kick found Aoibhe O’Leary at the back post following a perfectly timed run but her sweet finish was also blown for offside which no one could comprehend. Just before half time Cork broke away and saw a close range volley superbly saved by the outstanding Emma Jones in goals to see the sides go in 1-1 at halftime.

Treaty dominated the second half and created some great chances with Aoife Frawley, Rachel O’Shea (who replaced the talented but injured Honor Mulvihill at halftime) and Mioda O’Shea causing havoc upfront as was the talented Grace Geary who now dropped into midfield alongside the engine of Kristina Bokmane and, the player of the match, Alex Sheehy.

Cork incredibly retook the lead on 54 minutes when they got in behind our defence and squeezed the ball past the fingertips of Emma. Again Treaty dug deep and just kept going at Cork for the equalizer and on 75 minutes an excellent line-breaking ball from Mioda O’Shea sent Eleanor racing down the right wing. 2 Cork defenders ran to her but Eleanor beat them both with pace and skill before unleashing a bullet with her left foot that flew into the roof of the net from 20 yards.

Treaty went for the winner but Cork were always dangerous on the break and needed the excellent Treaty rear guard of captain Kate Lee, Aoibhe O’Leary, Ciara Austin, Eibhlin Butler and the sublime Jennifer Hogan to be at their best…which they were throughout. The final whistle brought huge applause from the watching crowds which is a common theme when these Treaty U17 girls play as they sure do entertain.

MU15

Our MU15s hosted Limerick FC in the Markets Field in a league game that also formed part of a fundraising activity for the squad’s trip to the Villarreal CF Academy this week.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Alex Clancy, Conor Kennedy, Jordan Brown (C), James Palache, Alex Meaney, Conor Brady, Paddy Gubbins, Conor Campbell, Mark Regan, Ben Doumbouya, Gavin Scanlan

Subs:

Daniel O’Connell, Mighty Odudu, Danny Hammond, Evan Hogan, Wisdom Amaeze, Kaylum Matha, Cathal Donnelly, Mieszko Kurylonski

Our MU15s had a comfortable victory over a physical Limerick FC side in a local derby which saw the first MU15 LOI Academy game take place in the Markets Field. Treaty dominated proceedings throughout and could afford the luxury of a missed penalty and still emerge victorious.

We started well as the team enjoyed the surroundings and took the lead in the 17th minute when Mark Regan found the net with an assist from James Palache. We doubled our lead just after the half hour mark, when a long throw into the box was controlled by Paddy Gubbins who laid the ball back to Ben Doumbouya who rifled a left-footed effort into the top corner.

We continued to control the game in the second half and squandered a number of chances to increase our lead including a late penalty which we failed to convert. Nonetheless, we ran out comfortable winners which left the squad in great spirits prior to their trip to Spain.

MU20

Our MU20s hosted Wexford FC in a league game in Hogan Park.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Dylan Ashman, Matt Jones (C), Cian Carmody, Dean Owens, Sean Costelloe, Kyle Foley, Fintan McNamara, Jack Dunleavy, Michael MacSweeney, Roy Lawlor, Fintan O’Kelly,

Subs:

Conor Crofton, Brandon Long, Rhys Barry, Michael Mulcah, Kayden Deegan Herlihy, Brandon Long, Tiernan Adelu

Our MU20s twice threw away a two goal lead throwing away two valuable points in the process. Sean Costelloe put the hosts in front early doors with a tap in after a Goalkeeping error in the 4th minute. Roy Lawlor added the second with a brilliant finish on 18 minutes. Wexford pulled one back after slack defending from a corner kick. Treaty replied with Lawlor again on hand to claim a brace 5 minutes before the interval and give the home team a 3-1 halftime lead.

Wexford battled hard in the second half and after being awarded a soft free kick on the edge of the box it was expertly finished to bring it back to 2-3. Another very soft free led to Wexford’s equaliser but Treaty can have no complaints as they switched off and defended it poorly as Wexford equalised in the 90th minute to gain a deserved but unlikely point.

Next up a trip to Kerry for a must win game in Tralee.

WU19

Our WU19s hosted Shamrock Rovers in the Manor Fields in Adare in a league game.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Ruby Linnane, Megan O’Reilly, Sadbh Griffin, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Grace Ehinger, Emma Meaney, Ella Carey, Saoirse Kent, Abbey Walsh, Amy Tierney, Annabel Mulcaire Quille

Emma Jones, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Ava Neary, Ellen Goggin, Jayne Ryan, Anna Dignam, Sirena Celebrini

A disappointing first half saw too much work for our WU19s in being able to claim any points in this top of the table clash in Limerick.

2 stunning long range efforts and a free kick gave Rovers a dream first half start. However, it could have been a different story with Treaty awarded a penalty inside 5 minutes when Abbey Walsh was upended by the goalkeeper in the box with shouts for a red card waved away by the referee with Walsh straight through on goal. Abbey stepped up to take the spot kick and was unlucky not to give Treaty the lead with her effort saved by the keeper.

The second half was a much more positive effort from Treaty with efforts from Ellen Goggin, Sirena Celebrini and Suvi O Connor all lifting the tempo of the game.

Treaty will look to get back to winning ways next week when Wexford come to Limerick.

MU17

Our MU17s made the trip to FAI HQ in Abbotstown on Sunday to participate in the Cross Border Development day. Treaty got the opportunity to test themselves against 3 Northern Irish sides.

Treaty MU17 3-0 Portadown

Treaty opened their day with a strong performance against Portadown. Treaty dominated the fixture throughout and were great value for the win. Christian Stack opened the scoring with Sean Kiely adding two goals. Biggest disappointment for Treaty in this game was their finishing in front of goal.

Treaty MU17 1-2 Coleraine

A disappointing first half saw Treaty fall two goals behind. Massive improvement in the second half saw Treaty dominate but again were very wasteful in front of goal. Nathaniel Mthembu scored Treaty’s goal in this game cooly slotting passed the keeper in a 1v1.

Treaty MU17 5-0 Glenavon

In the final game of the day, Treaty put on an exhibition to round out their day in fashion. Goals from Rory McKeon x2, Christian Stack, Nathaniel Mthembu and Kian Dempsey secured an emphatic win.

A really good day out for the MU17s who travelled with a squad of just 13 due injuries and holidays. All players putting in an excellent shift from the first minute.

Squad:

Darragh Van Veen, Conor Crofton, Rory McKeon, Tadhg McElliot, Nathan Ebo, Joey Nwankwo,  James Rochford, Kian Dempsey, Nathaniel Mthembu, Alex Omouryi, Christian Stack, Conor O’Mahony, Sean Kiely
