WU17
First into action at the weekend were our WU17s who hosted Galway United in the Elite Phase of their league at Hogan Park.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Emma Jones, Jennifer Hogan, Kate Lee (C), Ellen Hackett, Alex Sheehy, Aoibhe O’Leary, Mya Lee, Aoife Frawley, Mylie Treacy, Eleanor Blake, Caila Neligan
Subs:
Honor Mulvihill, Ciara Austin, Grace Geary, Orlaith O’Connell, Rachel O’Shea, Mioda O’Shea, Kristina Bokmane
Our WU17s made it back to back draws in the WU17 LOI after a 1-1 result at Hogan Park against a physical Galway side on Saturday.
Treaty, like their last draw against Cork, will feel like it was 2 points lost after playing the better football throughout. They led 1-0 following an excellent early Aoife Frawley goal from a sublime through ball from Eleanor Blake. Treaty also missed a second half penalty opportunity to regain the lead when Eleanor’s bullet penalty was excellently saved by the Galway keeper.
However, much credit also goes to the Treaty defence where Aoibhe O’Leary and Jennifer Hogan had to be on their toes all game, helped by some outstanding goalkeeping from Emma Jones whose aerial takes and distribution in difficult conditions were some of the highlights in an exciting game.
In front of the defence, Alex Sheehy was excellent in defensive midfield along with solid performances from Caila Neligan, Orlaith O’Connell and Mylie Treacy in attacking midfield. Eleanor worked tirelessly upfront but was unable to get the deserved winner for Treaty but more progress was made and the girls continue to grow into this elite phase of the League of Ireland.
Next up is a tough home game versus Shamrock Rovers on September 20th with the girls eager to show their talents against the league leaders.
MU15
Our MU15s travelled to Marley Park to take on league leaders UCD.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Alex Clancy, Jordan Brown, James Palache, Alex Meaney, Conor Brady, Kaylum Matha, Paddy Gubbins, Evan Hogan, Mark Regan (C), Gavin Scanlan, Ben Doumbouya
Subs:
Daniel O’Connell, Mighty Odudu, Danny Hammond, Cathal Donnelly, Mieszko Kurylonski, Conor Campbell, Wisdom Amaeze,
Our MU15s made a trip to UCD to play a very strong side who have won 8 out of 8 games so far and sit comfortably at the top of the table.
Despite starting well and having a few chances that we didn’t capitalize on, UCD were more clinical and finished the first half a goal to the good with the Treaty back line doing very well and some great saves from goalkeeper, Alex Clancy, that managed to limit the scoreline.
In the second half, Treaty players started much better, playing the passing football that characterise them and they started creating chances and pressure. We equalised very early in the second half through James Palache and 10 minutes later Conor Campbell put us 2-1 ahead. Unfortunately, due to naivety from a quick corner kick, Treaty conceded the equalizer and allowed UCD back into the game.
UCD capitalized on the momentum and scored shortly after with a good central combination to re-take the lead. Despite being one down, Treaty gave it all in the last part of the game and created a few chances, especially a huge one with the last kick of the game that went agonizingly just wide, to deny Treaty the equalizer.
Thanks to all who made the trip to support the boys. Our next game is at home versus CK United.
MU20
Our MU20s hosted CK United in a league game in Murroe AFC grounds.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Dylan Ashman, Matt Jones (C), Cian Carmody, Sean Costelloe, Michael MacSweeney, Jack Dunleavy, Tiernan Adelu, Fintan O’Kelly, Kyle Foley, Michael Mulcahy, Kayden Deegan Herlihy
Subs:
James Rochford, Ryan Moloney Brandon Long, Shane Franklin, Rhys Barry
Our MU20s drew 1-1 with CK United at Murroe AFCs excellent new facility. With nothing on the line for either team, Treaty made a number of changes with another pair of MU17s getting to play at the higher level.
CK took the lead against the run of play with an excellent corner routine. Sean Costelloe replied just before halftime with a beautiful strike from a direct free kick. Treaty controlled the ball for most of the second half but never really troubled a dogged CK defensive unit.
No game next weekend and we return in two weeks when we host Cobh Ramblers in a Munster Derby.
WU19
Our WU19s travelled to the SETU Arena to play Waterford FC in a league game.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Ruby Linnane, Megan O’Reilly, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Grace Ehinger, Ella Carey, Saoirse Kent, Abbey Walsh, Anna Dignam, Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Sirena Celebrini
Emma Jones, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Emma Meaney, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Jayne Ryan, Chloe Wallace, Molly Lane
Our WU19s will be disappointed to leave the SETU Arena with only a point after a dominant display for 80 minutes of the game.
Treaty led 2-1 at halftime thanks to a brace from Grace Ehinger with assists from Abbey Walsh and Anna Dignam.
It was more of the same in the second half with the fresh legs of Lily Anne O Meara scoring twice in 2 minutes with assists from Ella Carey and Suvi O Connor to put Treaty 4-1 up with a half hour to go.
However, Waterford slowly clawed their way back into the game. Suvi O Connor stretched Treaty’s lead to 5-3 thanks to a Sadbh Griffin through ball with 12 mins to go. A disallowed goal due to the referee not being ready for a corner from Saoirse Kent would have put the game beyond Waterford’s reach. Waterford went on to grab 2 late goals with the last being the final play of the game.
Congratulations to Emma Jones on making her debut for the WU19s. Our players of the match were Ella Carey and Grace Ehinger.
MU17
Our MU17s were in Bishopstown to take on Cork City in their Elite Phase league.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Conor Crofton, Rory McKeon (C), Kian Dempsey, Conor O’Mahony, Tadhg McElligott, Alex Omoruyi, Mark O’Callaghan, Christian Stack, Sean Kiely, Gavin Ryan, Nathanael Mthembu
Subs:
Darragh Van Veen, Dylan Ashman, James Rochford, Ryan Moloney, Joey Nwankwo, Ben Doumbouya, Tony Hourigan
Our MU17s returned to league action after a month with an away fixture versus Cork City in the Elite Phase.
Cork took an early lead after just 4 minutes and this left Treaty chasing the game throughout. Treaty had a great opportunity to equalise shortly after but the chance went astray. Treaty had to spend large periods without possession of the ball and looked to play on the break. Cork added deserved goals on the 29th and 44th minutes to take a 3-0 lead in to the half time break.
In a much closer second half, Treaty added goals through Nathanael Mthembu and Gavin Ryan but failed to gain momentum in any of the key moments.
Next up for the MU17s is a home fixture against Galway United.
MU14
Our MU14s travelled to the Stephen Ireland Astro in Cobh to play Cobh Ramblers.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Emmet O’Donnell, Harry Millan, Gibby Celebrini, Yanis Mambouna, Jude Cullen, Paddy O’Sullivan, Sean Kelly (C), Jack Bourke, Morgan Barrett, Adam Rochford, Dion Hannon
Subs:
Seamus Greene, Marco Lopez, Fionn Kennedy, Jack Sheehy, Ciaran Irwin, Hugh Canty, Sean O’Carroll, Liam McCague, Gabriel Nseka
In blustery conditions, our MU14s played an entertaining game full of attacking play. Set-pieces in windy conditions cost us a few goals that didn’t affect the group as brilliant goals from Fionn Kennedy and Adam Rochford saw us claw our way back. Marco Lopez and Jack Sheehy very unlucky not to score. Yanis Mambouana was also unlucky not to score from a corner and Gabriel Neska hit the crossbar twice from wicked free kicks. At the end of the day, we came away on the losing side but with lots of positives.
After two long trips away, we welcome Wexford FC on Sunday.
