All 6 of our Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in National Cup action this weekend. Four of our sides had victories with the WU19s advancing to the semi-finals of their Cup and the MU15s and MU20s qualifying for their respective quarter finals.

MU15

Our MU15s travelled to Carlow to take on CK United in the 2nd Round of the Michael Hayes Cup.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Daniel O’Connell, James Palache, Conor Brady, Alex Meaney, Kaylum Matha, Mighty Odudu, Paddy Gubbins, Evan Hogan, Mark Regan, Gavin Scanlan, Wisdom Amaeze

Subs:

Alex Clancy, Conor Kennedy, Mieszko Kurylonski, Jordan Brown, Cathal Donnelly, Danny Hammond

Match Report:

Our MU15s advanced to the last 8 of the Michael Hayes Cup when they defeated CK United on penalties after the game had finished 1-1 following  extra time.

A super footballing performance in the first half saw us take the lead through Wisdom Amaeze after 11 minutes, the assist coming from Kaylum Matha. CK United equalised in first half stoppage time to send the sides in 1-1 at the break.

Injuries and illnesses meant we had to play the rest of the game with 9 players and two injured players. The impressive Danny O’Connell in goals tipped a certain goal off the bar to keep us in the game. It was an excellent effort from the lads to hold out for 1-1 at the end of normal time.

We faced into two 10 minute periods of extra time which brought no further goals so the game went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Thankfully,  our boys proved more accurate and emerged 4-3 victors.

There were tireless performances from Mighty Odudu, Danny Hammond and Mark Regan to keep the hosts out. Players of the match were Gavin Scanlan and James Palache.

Next up for the MU15s is a return to league action next Saturday when they travel to the SETU Arena to play Waterford FC.

WU17

Our WU17s travelled to Ferrycarrig Park to play Wexford FC in the 2nd Round of the WU17 National Cup.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Emma Jones, Ellen Hackett, Eibhlin Butler, Caila Nelligan, Jennifer Hogan, Kate Lee (C), Rachel O’Shea, Orlaith O’Connell, Aoife Frawley, Mioda O’Shea, Eleanor Blake

Subs:

Ruby Linnane, Evelina Stankeviciute, Mylie Treacy, Mya Lee

Match Report:

Our WU17s suffered extra time heartbreak away to Wexford FC, going down 5-3 in the last 16 of the cup after finishing 3-3 on 90 minutes in an end-to-end spectacle for the large watching crowd.

The first half was very evenly matched until Wexford took a fortuitous lead on 30 minutes, only for Eleanor Blake to equalize 8 minutes later following an excellent press on the keeper.

The second half was a rollercoaster with chances at both ends and then a 4 goal blitz in the last 10 minutes which saw Treaty take the lead on 81 minutes through a close range Mylie Tracey goal only for Wexford to equalize 2 minutes later. Treaty went back in front on 85 minutes through an excellent low drive by Eleanor Blake only to see Wexford equalize in injury time to send the game into extra time.

Wexford scored twice in the first half of extra time and despite a valiant effort from the Treaty girls they couldn’t find their way back and exited the competition with their heads held high. With a number of high profile players missing, we asked certain players to play in new positions and they rolled up their sleeves and got on with their task. Special callout for captain on the day, Kate Lee, in defensive midfield, Orlaith O’Connell and Caila Neligan at fullback and Eleanor Blake who was everywhere.

The WU17s are back in action next Saturday when they travel to the Oscar Traynor Complex to play Bohemians in their Elite Phase league campaign.

MU20

Our MU20s hosted Finn Harps in Nenagh in the second round of the MU20 National Cup.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Dylan Ashman, Fintan McNamara, Cian Carmody, Darren Nwankwo, Matt Jones (C), Roy Lawlor,  Scott Murphy, Sean Costelloe, Ben Lee, Kyle Foley, Fintan O’Kelly

Subs:

Conor Wall, Seanie O’Haodha, Brandon Long, Kayden Deegan Herlihy, Shane Franklin, Rhys Barry

Match Report:

Our MU20s progressed to the Quarter Final of the Enda McGuill cup with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Finn Harps. Dylan Ashman, recently signed from Pike Rovers, made his debut between the sticks and had a flawless debut. Darren Nwankwo was imperious all day and opened the scoring, heading home from a well worked corner. Sean Costello added the second with a cool finish just before the half time break.

Treaty controlled much of the play in the second half and Costelloe added his second on 70 minutes to seal the game. This was Treaty’s best performance of the year with all players contributing to an excellent team performance. Special thanks to Nenagh AFC for use of their immaculate facilities.

The MU20s are back in action next Saturday when they return to their league campaign and travel to St Coleman’s Park to take on Cobh Ramblers.

MU14

Our MU14s hosted Galway United in the Manor Fields in Adare in the second game of their M14 Group 6 Cup campaign.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Emmet O’Donnell, Fionn Kennedy, Gibby Celebrini, Hugh Canty, Yanis Mambouna, Gabriel Nseka, Ciaran Irwin, Sean Kelly (C), Dion Hannon, Adam Rochford, Liam McCague

Subs:

Jude Cullen, Harry Millan, Sean O’Carroll, Jack Bourke, Jack Sheehy, Paddy O’Sullivan, Morgan Barrett

Match Report:

A super goal with the 2nd last kick of the game from Dion Hannon, with a crucial assist from Jack Bourke, gave our MU14s victory over an unbeaten Galway United side in the MU14 National Cup group game.

This was a great cup game played in Adare, with lots of great attacking and defensive plays on show and just that single Kate goal separating the sides as our MU14s built on last week’s opening group Cup game against Bohemians.

Our players of the match were Dion Hannon and Emmet O Donnell. Well done to Morgan Barrett who made his National League debut.

Our MU14s play their final Cup group game next Sunday when Longford Town are visitors to Adare

WU19

Our WU19s travelled to the Roadstone Complex to play Shamrock Rovers in the quarter final of the WU19 National Cup.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Ruby Linnane, Megan O’Reilly, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Aibhlinn Cotter, Sirena Celebrini, Ellen Goggin, Grace Ehinger, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Saoirse Kent

Subs:

Emma Jones, Abbey Walsh, Grace Gleeson, Molly Lane, Jayne Ryan

Match Report:

An epic battle in Dublin for our WU19s saw them come away victorious after a sudden death penalty shootout against Shamrock Rovers in the WU19 Cup quarter final.

Treaty played some tremendous football throughout the game and were unlucky not to get the win in normal time.

The deadlock could not be broken in extra time either with the Treaty defence in excellent form to keep them in the game.

It took seven penalties from each side to find a winner with Treaty scoring through Ellen Goggin, Suvi O Connor, Abbey Walsh & Ava Neary but the hero of the day was debutant Ruby Linnane in the Treaty goal, saving 4 of Shamrock Rovers penalties to send the WU19s through to the semi-finals with great celebrations at the end by all the squad and management. A well deserved victory for a mammoth squad effort on the day by each player.

The WU19s return to league action next Sunday when they travel to Bishopstown to take on Cork City as they bid to maintain their position at the top of the Group A table.

MU17

Our MU17s had Waterford FC as visitors to Adare in the second round of the Mark Farren National Cup.

Our lineup for the game was as follows:

Starting 11:

Darragh Van Veen, Kian Dempsey, Conor O’Mahony, Rory McKeon (C), Tadhg McElligott, Mark O’Callaghan, Christian Stack, James Rochford, Timmy O’Sullivan, Nathanael Mthembu, Ben Doumbouya

Subs:

Conor Crofton, Danny Hammond

Match Report:

Our MU17s hosted Waterford in Adare in the MU17 cup. Treaty travelled with a light squad once again due to injuries and summer departures. With only one outfield sub available it was always going to be a  challenging day. The lightened squad saw an opportunity for MU15 player Ben Hogan to get a full 90 minutes. Treaty were forced to use their one outfield sub after 8 minutes when Rory McKeon went down injured. This saw the introduction of MU15 player Danny Hammond to make his MU17 debut.

In a competitive game, Treaty fell behind to a wonder strike on the 4th minute. Treaty found a footing in the game at this point and started to gain momentum. This momentum was rewarded on the 25th minute after a great team move found Nathaniel Mtembu on the opposite wing who forced a great save from the Waterford goalkeeper. Christian Stack was on hand to put the ball home for the equaliser. Waterford regained the lead in the 37th minute from a corner.

Treaty started the second half brightly and looked good value to kick on and win the game. Struggling with the final product, Treaty failed to secure an equaliser. With the introduction of fresh legs for Waterford and Treaty fatiguing after a couple of  tough weeks, Waterford were able to score twice late on with the game stretched as Treaty pushed for an equaliser. Stand out performer for Treaty on the day was Kian Dempsey who was outstanding at the back and kept pushing the team on for 90 minutes.

Next up for our MU17s is Bohemians away in the Elite Phase of the league next Sunday
