Academy Report: Week of July 19-20, 2025
Five of our 6 of Treaty United Carelon Academy teams were in league action this weekend while our MU15 were in Abbotstown to take part in an Academy Development weekend.
WU17
Our WU17s were in action in the Markets Field when they hosted Shelbourne FC in the Elite Phase of their league.
Starting 11:
Ruby Linnane, Alex Sheehy, Aoibhe O’Leary, Caila Nelligan, Kristina Bokmane (C), Jennifer Hogan, Honor Mulvihill, Aoife Frawley, Annabel Mulcaire Quille, Kate Lee, Eleanor Blake
Subs:
Orlaith O’Connell, Emma Jones, Mylie Treacy, Ellen Hackett, Grace Geary, Rachel O’Shea, Mioda O’Shea, Ewelina Stankeviciute
Match Report:
Our WU17 game vs Shelbourne brought another goal-fest in a 7 goal thriller at the Markets Field, which ended with Shels winning 5-2 but it could have easily finished 6-6.
An end to end first half saw Shels go 1-up after only 5 mins but Treaty rallied and equalized on 19 minutes when another aggressive press against the keeper from Eleanor Blake up front saw her poke home from close range. 5 minutes later, Shels regained the lead but Treaty dug in again and on 28 minutrs some excellent build up saw Eleanor brought down in the box for a penalty which she herself confidently dispatched to make it 2-2. It was back and forth for the rest of the half with some excellent football from both sides but Shels broke away in injury time in the first half to score what looked a clear offside goal to go in 3-2 up at the break.
The second half saw Treaty give everything to get back into the game and were so unlucky when a brilliant passing break from back to front saw Rachel O’Shea put Eleanor through 1v1 with the Shels keeper but her effort scraped the post and went wide.
Treaty brought on new signing Grace Geary on the hour as she replaced another debutant Honor Mulvihill on the right wing. Grace saw 2 fantastic free kicks rattle the crossbar with Kate Lee and Mioda O’Shea unlucky not to score on the rebound on both occasions.
Unfortunately, and against the run of play, Shels got a 4th when a clever short corner saw a rocket of a shot fly over the outstanding Ruby Linnane in goals. Treaty kept trying to get back into the game and were unlucky when Ewelina Stankivicute’s header failed to hit the net. Shels have super pace upfront and on 79 minutes they broke away and scored their 5th and final goal.
The Treaty girls were disappointed with the result as it did not reflect the game and they were applauded off the pitch for their efforts by the large watching crowd.
Treaty’s player of the match was Eleanor Blake who was superb up front with keeper Ruby Linnane, midfielders Caila Neligan, Annabel Mulcaire Quille and captain Kristina Bokmane not far behind.
Overall it was a great team effort and the girls are improving every week.
MU20
Our MU20s had Kerry FC as visitors to Hogan Park in their League game.
Starting 11:
Dylan Ashman, Cian Carmody, Scott Murphy, Sean Costelloe, Kyle Foley (C), Fintan O’Kelly, Michael MacSweeney, Darren Nwankwo, Roy Lawlor, Dean Owens, Ben Lee
Subs:
Conor Wall, Matt Jones, Jack Dunleavy, Brandon Long, Shane Franklin, Kayden Deegan Herlihy, Rhys Barry, Michael Mulcahy, Tiernan Adelu
Match Report:
Our MU20s fell to a disappointing home defeat to a very dogged Kerry team. Treaty controlled much of the possession but failed to create anything of note in the opposition’s box. Kerry scored just before half time when a corner was poorly defended. Treaty huffed and puffed throughout the second half but lacked quality and guile in the opposition’s half.
Next up the long trip to Drogheda for the MU20 cup quarter final.
MU14
Our MU14s hosted Klub Kildare in Hogan Park their Group B league game.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Emmet O’Donnell, Jude Cullen, Gabriel Nseka, Ciaran Irwin, Sean Kelly (C), Paddy O’Sullivan, Jack Bourke, Morgan Barrett, Liam McCague, Adam Rochford, Dion Hannon
Subs:
Sean O’Carroll, Marco Lopez, Harry Millan, Seamus Greene, Yanis Mambouna, Warren Wallace, Jack Sheehy
Match Report:
The first game on grass for the group produced a really good performance. Just before the 30th minute mark, we conceded. In the 2nd period, we thundered into the game, producing really good combination play and some excellent work throughout the pitch. Dion Hannon had a lovely run into the box and he was fouled. He duly stepped up to score the resultant penalty.
14 minutes later, Jude Cullen, after great one touch play from Morgan Barrett, dispatched the ball to the net.
Treaty were now in complete control of the game and pushed on and Dion Hannon was fed in by Josh Cullen and finished expertly.
Two very late goals from the visitors brought the scores level and the game finished 3-3.
Players of the match were Adam Rochford, Jude Cullen and Dion Hannon.
Well done to Warren Wallace who made his LOI debut in this game.
The MU14s are next in action when they host Bray Wanderers next weekend in Hogan Park in the Eddie Wallace Cup.
WU19
Our WU19s hosted DLR Waves in the Markets Field in the league.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Chloe Widger, Lily-Anne O’Meara, Sadbh Griffin, Ava Neary (C), Emma Meaney, Amy Tierney, Ellen Goggin, Grace Ehinger, Saoirse Kent, Ciara Breslin, Jayne Ryan
Subs:
Niamh Kinehan, Suvi Isabella O’Connor, Megan O’Reilly, Abbey Walsh, Anna Dignam, Kristina Bokmane, Kate Lee
Match Report
Our WU19s returned to winning ways in the league last weekend with a 3-1 win over DLR Waves in the Markets Field.
Treaty started brightly and within the first few minutes had registered attempts through Ellen Goggin and Ciara Breslin. With only 8 minutes played, Treaty had their first goal when Ciara Breslin latched on to a superb pass from the excellent Amy Tierney. Ciara rounded the goalkeeper to slot home her first goal of what would be a hat-trick before halftime.
Treaty were well on top throughout the first half and, defensively, Ava Neary, Sadbh Griffin, Emma Meaney and Lily Anne O Meara were excellent on the day.
Treaty increased their lead 20 minutes in after great work from Meaney at the back who threaded a pass to Saoirse Kent. Kent played a quick pass out wide to Grace Ehinger, whose pinpoint cross was met by Breslin for goal #2.
Treaty continued their pressing game only to be caught off guard by DLR and their right winger caught a first time ball to beat the unlucky Chloe Widger in goal.
Treaty were not to be fazed by this and once again launched an unending barrage of pressure on DLR and just before the break found the net once again through Breslin from a superb ball from Jayne Ryan who was excellent on the left wing.
The second half saw much of the same from Treaty with Abbey Walsh providing great crosses from the left wing but efforts from Amy Tierney, Ellen Goggin and Anna Dignam just couldn’t find the net. Introductions of Suvi O Connor, Kate Lee and Kristine Bokmane boosted the game’s energy and a welcome return to play of the injured Megan O’ Reilly allowed Treaty to finish out the game in good form with Niamh Kinehan replacing Widger in goal to keep the shop shut for the second half.
Our player of the match was Ciara Breslin.
Our WU19s will now look to prepare for their Cup Semi Final game next weekend v Athlone Town in the Markets Field.
MU17
Our MU17s had Shelbourne FC as visitors to Hogan Park in their Elite Phase league.
Our lineup for the game was as follows:
Starting 11:
Darragh Van Veen, Kian Dempsey (C), Nathan Mathewebo, Conor O’Mahony, Tadhg McElligott, Mark O’Callaghan, Alex Omoruyi, Gavin Ryan, Christian Stack, Nathanael Mthembu, Ryan Moloney
Subs:
Conor Crofton, Joey Nwankwo, James Rochford, Timmy O’Sullivan
Match Report:
It was a disappointing Sunday afternoon for our MU17s. The home side struggled to get the ball moving on a difficult surface and were made to pay the price in the first 20 minutes of the game. Poor decision making trying to play out from the back lead to some poorly conceded goals. Having gone 3-0 down, Treaty created some excellent chances through Nathaniel Mthembu and Mark O’Callaghan but failed to take either. Outside of those moments it was a difficult first half.
It was a much improved second half from the home side, making better decisions and finding a lot more success. The Shels keeper made a couple of great saves to keep the game at 3-0. Shelbourne added a 4th with a great counter attacking move in the 72nd minute. A disappointing day for the MU17s as they head in to a 2 week break from League football. Best on the day for the 17s was Gavin Ryan in central midfield.
MU15
Our MU15s travelled to FAI Headquarters in Abbotstown for an Academy Development Weekend where they took on Wexford FC, Bohemians and Klub Kildare.
They are in cup action next weekend when they travel to the AUL Complex to take on Shelbourne FC in the Michael Hayes U15 Cup.
